Flying Boats for Recreation, October 20, 2005
This review is from: Flying Boats for Recreation (Paperback)
This is a good book for those getting into seaplane flying that would like a basic review of different seaplane models and levels of seaplane flying. It becomes obvious, that the author is a Widgeon fan (who isn't). The book is basically in 3 major parts:
First is a review of some older seaplanes.
Second is a MES checkout program, tailored for the Widgeon.
Third is a number of trips the author has done and a good review of seaplane events to go do in the North West. This is a great section if you have just bought a seaplane and are looking for things to go do.
The book lacks reviews of some newer seaplanes on the market (Seawind 300, BE-103, etc). Overall, the book is an enjoyable and honest evaluation of several older seaplanes on the market, and it will certainly wet your appetite to buy a Widgeon.
Well worth it, just for fun.
