Deceptive premise,
By Ekaterina Markova (Los Angeles, Ca USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Flying Saucers Come From Beneath The Earth - And Other Hollow Earth Mysteries (DVD)
This film may be a good purchase if you can find it in a bargain basement sale, but, for $25.00, it did not deliver. The 2 disk package is comprised of a brief "hollow earth" theory and presentation by a mumbling lecturer. Many of his comments were inaudible. Also, there was little evidence to substantiate his claims. Though i did not time the first segment, it seemed to be less than an hour. What follows is a boring expose on the Artic and Antartica. This very long segment finishes the first disk and runs well into the second. We see ice, polar bears, many penquins, walruses and ancient footage of early explorers. There is no UFO subject matter. The final segment, an old black and white docu-drama,was more than i could sit through. This DVD was deceptive as it was marketed as UFO exploratory research.Don't waste your money,,,this one's a dud.

An Entertaining Alternate Theory of UFOs,
By Steven Sean Casteel (Ventura, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Flying Saucers Come From Beneath The Earth - And Other Hollow Earth Mysteries (DVD)
It is popularly assumed that UFOs or flying saucers visit Earth from somewhere in outer space, like tourists stumbling upon an uncharted tropical island tucked away from the normal flow of extraterrestrial traffic. It is the contention of this informative DVD from Abulard/Global that the word "extraterrestrial" may not even apply in the case of UFOs. They may instead be quite unnervingly "terrestrial" after all!"Flying Saucers Come From Inside The Earth" opens with a camera panning a marvelous, surreal underground landscape that sets the stage for what is to follow--a lecture by researcher and author Dennis Crenshaw in which he endeavors to demonstrate that the conventional wisdom about UFOs originating somewhere off the Earth is a myth propagated by the government to lead believers away from the actual truth. He points out that UFOs have never been sighted anywhere except within the atmosphere of Earth, and that descriptions of the craft and their sometimes amazing capabilities are nevertheless inconsistent with what we know would be the requirements for space travel. Meanwhile, the government, beginning in the 1950s, began to mount an enormous campaign, using Hollywood science fiction movies as a primary tool in that effort, to popularize the notion that UFOs come from the unknown depths of space in order to cover-up the more logical assumption that they really come from inside the Earth. The truths implied by that understanding of the reality of the phenomenon were deemed too strange for the general public to cope with, and thus the outer space theory was made to dominate the discussion. Crenshaw covers a great deal of the history of the early days of Ufology in making his argument that flying saucers come from the Inner Earth, and the sweep of time is further augmented by the inter-cutting of newsreel footage of important moments in the development of the Inner Earth Theory, such as Admiral Byrd's early 20th Century exploration of the Arctic Circle. Byrd's fateful excursion yielded up the possibility that one could enter a passage to the center of the world through openings at the top, which are visible in photos Crenshaw obtained after years of wrangling with government officials. Crenshaw also reveals that official NASA photos of the Earth, taken from outer space, deliberately show only an equatorial view of our blue planet, and the hollow openings at the poles are purposely censored from such photos in order to maintain the utmost secrecy about their existence. And if one agrees that there is such an Inner Earth, what would one expect to find there? Crenshaw answers by saying, "There exists below everything you see above." In other words, one would see mountains, rivers, even a sun-like source of light. And likely also whatever race of aliens we now assume to come from without, but who instead are occupying the space deep within the hollow earth. Crenshaw's lecture is followed by a documentary called "Underneath the Polar Seas," narrated by the famous actor But the icing on the cake here is a low-budget science fiction movie called "Unknown World." It's a little like an old Ed Wood movie, with its cheesy special effects and dialogue, but there are some familiar faces in the cast, the kind of character actors you recognize but don't know the names of. It opens like the cinematic classic "Citizen Kane," with a fictitious newsreel that tells the story of Dr. Morley, a scientist who believes mankind to be doomed by nuclear weapons and who advocates building a new world down in the Inner Earth. While he is at first ridiculed for his radical ideas, he manages to obtain the funding necessary to build a ship that can bore through to the Earth's core and leads a team of fellow explorers to what seems at first a virtual paradise undreamed of by the cynics on the surface. You'll have to get the DVD to learn the rest of the story, which like everything else in "Flying Saucers Come From Inside The Earth," plays with fascinating possibilities that, while they remain unproven, are at the very least enormously entertaining.

The hollow DVD mystery uncovered..,
By
This review is from: Flying Saucers Come From Beneath The Earth - And Other Hollow Earth Mysteries (DVD)
I bought this boxset for one reason, it was the only available on this topic and along with another DVD from the same "publisher" (If you can even call that publishing..) I must say, the DVD production is a bigger conspiracy then the theories in the DVD sets. The DVD was "BURNED" on DVD-R discs with VERY POOR QUALITY. The 3 DVD machines at my house could not play all of them properly. The DVD disk 1 was playable on my computer and DVD-R/RW recorder (both latest available and supports DVD-R/RW functions). Disc 2 however, was unplayable, it was an empty disc, the computer could read no data on the disc at all, it was an empty disc. It was totally possible as the discs were ordinary DVD-Rs with a printed sticker on it that some one simply forgot to "burn" the contents on it. This product seriously threatens the reputation of Amazon.com in my opinion, as different people may like different craps, sure enough, but this was crap as a product itself, not the content. I have promptly returned the DVD to Amazon.com and hope this review can save people their precious time, money and dissapointments. I was forced to give it one star, for its ability to fool me into believing it was produced with a certain quality.

Hollow Earth Lecture, Arctic Documentary and Sci Fi Movie...interesting combination,

This review is from: Flying Saucers Come From Beneath The Earth - And Other Hollow Earth Mysteries (DVD)
The lecture at the begining of the DVD is interesting and informative...except you're not really introduced to the gentleman giving the lecture. He does a surprisingly good job of dealing with this unusual and exciting idea and uses some of the best sources out there for his information. This is, thankfully, not one of these Hollow Earth programs involving channeling someone from "the inner Earth", it deals with as much fact as is possible for most laymen to get their hands on. Apparently those of us interested will have to wait for someone at a university level to take this seriously because, at least for now, no one at that level (unlike the UFO community) is championing this theory. The subject is treated well, there is no crummy music or any music, and the camera work pretty well done, although a couple of times it would have been nice to see what was being shown on the projector instead of the lecturer.
The very old Arctic documentary portion is OK....sort of a historical thing now, though. This part had no real tie in to the Hollow Earth theory that I could find other than making the Arctic and Antarctic seem very mysterious and spooky. The movie (from the '50s) that is included on this set is pretty decent for its time and rather long. It's your basic we must try to find caverns under the surface of the Earth in which to live becasue there is a cataclizm coming. A team of doctors, profesors (etc...per Fantastic Voyage)make the first forey into the depths of the Earth only to find someone or something is already there!! Fun stuff as long as you don't expect to be very impressed with special effects or sets.....the acting isn't too bad but, you'd have to be into the old movies to really get into it.

This is likely the poorest quality DVD I've purchased. It frequently froze screen and skipped sections when playing on a high quality DVD player; there are no menus. However, it played better on the computer's DVD.
The information is out-of-date, and poorly filmed. Several very old newsreels on Iceland, the antarctic, and historical sailors do not have much to do with the title.

Provocative theory, poor presentation,
This review is from: Flying Saucers Come From Beneath The Earth - And Other Hollow Earth Mysteries (DVD)
I find truth is best found by thoughtfully considering ALL perspectives, so purchased this video seeking Admiral Byrd documentation and any foundation for a hollow earth theory. What follows is interesting old footage, but a total lack of any scientific rigor. There is not only an absence of any references, but the venue and the speaker are not even identified! The two DVD's include a presentation of his beliefs, an old video on the Arctic regions, and a poor quality B&W movie titled Unknown World that abruptly stops in the middle without any ending. If you want to learn more, this isn't a product that will help you find it.

Do not waste your money. The lecture is boring and the one photo(slide) of the hole at the pole that the audience gasps at, Crenshaw doesn't show!?!? The rest of the dvd(s) is worthless info about the polar regeions of the earth.
Worthless production both in quality and content. I wish I could give this -4 stars. One good point is it gives good hints at other research material. |
