From Library Journal
Grant, a journalist and former war correspondent in Vietnam (Over the Beach, LJ 11/1/86), originally wrote this work as a tape for his mother's first flight to Paris- her first flight anywhere. He offers a beginner's guide to international flying, including in his scope travel agents, passports, money, jet lag, packing, dress, checking in, boarding, food, customs, and other topics of interest. Most travelers will know some of the tips, but there is much to learn for those who have never flown and even something for veteran travelers. One small quibble: in the chapter on money, Grant fails to mention the cheapest way to change money abroad, the ATM card. One large criticism is the format: the 143 pages are printed on letter-size paper, on one side, and spiral bound. The book would make a useful pocket book if it weren't so unwieldy. For travel collections.
