5.0 out of 5 stars The NEW solo entrepreneur's bible!, June 23, 2006
This review is from: Flying Solo: How to Go It Alone in Business (Paperback)
Clearly this book is for solo entrepreneurs! And right from the beginning, you know that this book is for lifestyle entrepreneurs like ourselves who want our work to fit our life. Here's a quote from page 7: "It ain't what you do, it's the way that you do it."

While this book is rooted in the practicalities of running a solo business, it is also inspiring and motivational as it tackles such issues as the importance of attitude, how to embrace uncertainty, and the criticality of staying aligned with your passions in designing your work. My favorite quote: "Soloists simply cannot afford to separate life from work and need to stop obsessing about finding *balance between* the two and instead focus on finding *harmony within* the two."

This book is a delight! Cheerful and upbeat, you can almost hear the cheerleading behind the words. Easy to read and well-laid out, the book includes helpful (but not overwhelming) exercises to get you on the right path.

For a long time now I've considered Free Agent Nation, by Daniel Pink, to be the soloist's bible. While I still consider it to be a groundbreaking book, I think I will shift to Flying Solo as my recommended read for aspiring and new solo entrepreneurs, or those who may have lost site of the reason they went solo in the first place.

5.0 out of 5 stars An easy read, with practical tips & advice, June 11, 2006

An enjoyable, easy to read book which had plenty of tips.

Even though I am a 10 year veretan of 'going solo', it was good to be reminded of a lot of the simple things that get forgotten when you are 'heads down' in your own business.

I recommend anyone who is thinking of starting a solo business (or anyone who has been running one for a while) to pick up this book and read it.
