5.0 out of 5 stars Flying Squirrel Owners-It's Wonderful!, July 11, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Having both rehabilitated flying squirrels, and had them as pets, I am very particular about any item with these little guys depicted. I have looked over all manner of things offered on the Net: t-shirts, coffee mugs, stationary, illustrations... Often, the artists' depiction of them was just not very good. The eyes would be too small, the flaps too big, the tale too off...and so on. Both this toy and its book are beautifully perfect! The illustations are so well done the f.s. can hop off of the pages and onto your shoulder! The toy is exactly as I hoped it would be. (The photo with this advert is terrible; I wish we could see the flying squirrel's head and back. The stomach does not do it justice.) (I have fooled my family with this plush toy-how's that for a review?) I have referred this set to other flying squirrel owners and they agree. Well done! Adorable! Recommended, f.s. owners!

5.0 out of 5 stars A treasure trove of information on an elusive creature that probably lives in your backyard, May 22, 2009
This whole series by the Smithsonian contains excellent information on different species - much more than the average adult knows - while presenting it in the form of an interesting story with beautiful, realistic pictures. I love this series. Well worth having for home or school use, and especially appropriate for camps and nature centers.

I had no idea that there were flying squirrels near my home in Rhode Island until one got trapped in the attic. The cutest animal I ever saw! I was very pleased to find this book and learn more about them.
