3.0 out of 5 stars EASY... NOT SO...
Every books title is there like the baited hook to catch the reader fish. "Easy" is the bait used her and it soon wears thin. If you have no knowledge of Flying Star this book will not really help except to get you running to the bookstore to find one(s)that do. Secondly, if you were hoping for some easy step-by-step instruction book..you ain't really gonna find it here...

5.0 out of 5 stars I am author, September 30, 2000

David Twicken (Santa Monica, California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Flying Star Feng Shui Made Easy: Third Edition (Paperback)
Flying Star Feng Shui Made Easy (Xuan Kong) is dedicated solely to Classical or Traditional Chinese Feng Shui. It is the first English publication dedicated solely to the Three Star- Flying Star Feng Shui system. There are many systems and forms of Feng Shui and I have personal experience of their success. The highest form of Feng Shui is combining numerous systems in a way that creates a synergy; this synergy I call "Power Feng Shui".

Most of the books on Classcial Feng Shui focus on the Environment, the East-West or Eight Mansions system and a Two Star - Flying Star system. The Three Star-Flying Star system is usually the last part of the Flying Star Feng Shui system taught in the Western community at workshops and seminars, it is usually referred to as "Advanced Feng Shui". This level overrides the Two Star system and most all of the East-West or Eight Mansion systems. "Flying Star Feng Shui Made Easy" brings you right to the predominant form practiced by professional consultants throughout the world!

Flying Star Feng Shui Made Easy focuses on the advanced level of Feng Shui and prepares one to be a professional Flying Star Feng Shui practioner. This book was designed with the Westerner in mind, but many Asian friends of mine find this book to be easier to understand than traditional Chinese books. This book is presented in a way for you to learn the principles and applications of Flying Star Feng Shui in an enjoyable, quick and efficient manner. For less than $12.00 you will have access to what normally cost hundreds or thousands of dollars in workshops, classes and seminars. I welcome all interested in Feng Shui to the fascinating world of Flying Star Feng Shui.

Best Wishes,

David Twicken, Ph.D., L.Ac.

5.0 out of 5 stars A True Feng Shui Epic., July 24, 2001
This review is from: Flying Star Feng Shui Made Easy: Third Edition (Paperback)
Having read more than 3 dozen books on Feng Shui as well as having studied under more than one International Master,I would rate this treatise at the top of the heap of 325 odd titles available. For the beginner Lillian Too's Essential Feng Shui is a must, but for the advanced/serious student you will NOT find any work at least in English which even gets close to this. For that you would have to spend a couple of hundred dollars and do a so called online course. For the first time it is not two stars but three that you are taught to work with. Also a novel first is analysing your personal trigram with the flying stars of your house to find out how your property suits you and your family. Don't think twice---This is the finest book on the market.Buy it and read it over and over and over.Believe me it gets better and better with every read as you develop new insights.

3.0 out of 5 stars EASY... NOT SO..., August 25, 2005
This review is from: Flying Star Feng Shui Made Easy: Third Edition (Paperback)
Every books title is there like the baited hook to catch the reader fish. "Easy" is the bait used her and it soon wears thin. If you have no knowledge of Flying Star this book will not really help except to get you running to the bookstore to find one(s)that do. Secondly, if you were hoping for some easy step-by-step instruction book..you ain't really gonna find it here.

The book is like a paperback manual or pocket compendium of Short List of Flyer Star Feng Shui "things to know". In the start of the book you are introduced to elements, cycle, Qi...Yin/Yang and so forth. The author uses a "family" tree scheme..mother, father, oldest, youngest, elders..etc to explain the elements. Gives a brief background information on four branches of traditional Feng Shui and names of founders/ contributors to classical Feng Shui. So far, so good right..wrong. Despite its good points of diagrams, variety, and what seems like little gems of information..the problem is that this book is rather more like a showcase. Different applications Flying Star Feng Shui trying to pass off as indepth or magically demystifying book. A smorgesbord menu with scanty "how to" feel.

This book STARTS off easy enough then just seems to gradually become complicated in part due to its disconnectedness of chapters that serves to further confuse. Also the "remedies" are very short lived, sometimes irrelevently unappliable.

Its an interesting book because its so all over the place you think that you might be onto something. However, this book is NOT going to help the newbie or "get me there fast" Feng Shui person out the unenchanted forest of Feng Shui...(more like into it!)

The book's worth is devalued by trying to be too much to everyone or too much of all of Flying Star Feng Shui instead of just presenting one platform and doing well with it. At best this book might serve as some kind of adjunct or back up for those who have more working knowledge of Flying Star Feng Shui.

Theres are two old saying that applies here "Too many cooks spoil the broth"..."Easy come..Easy go".

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book on Flying Star feng shui, April 26, 2001
This review is from: Flying Star Feng Shui Made Easy: Third Edition (Paperback)
This is undoubtedly the clearest and most comprehensive book on Flying Star feng shui currently on the market. The book has no colored illustrations, or fancy production. It just gets down to explaining (with very clear tables) how to do Flying Star feng shui. Flying Star feng shui is the most popular and one of the most powerful techniques used by Chinese professional feng shui masters in Hong Kong, but has only been available in the West since about 1995. This book is written by an author who thinks like a Chinese, but explains like a Westerner. If you were only allowed to buy just 5 books on feng shui out of the 325 currently listed, then this would have to be one of them. Buy it, persevere with it, and use it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book on Flying Stars Feng Shui, January 20, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Flying Star Feng Shui Made Easy: Third Edition (Paperback)
The best book on "traditional" Flying Stars Feng Shui. After reading this book it is clear traditional feng shui is different than the other styles that are predominant in the market.

This book presents the entire foundation of Flying Stars with complete charts for all cycles and 24 mountains and special prosperity charts. I feel now I have learned authentic traditional feng shui, I even emailed the author with a few questions and he resonded with detailed answers the same day!

Among over 300 books in the market on feng shui, this is a gem, simply the best on Tradional Flying Stars Feng Shui! If you are looking for a quick feng shui fix, this book is not for you. If you are serious about learning the most popular form of feng shui practioned in asia, this book is a must.

Thanks Mr. Twicken for revealing this ancient and powerful form of Feng Shui!

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing., April 6, 2003

cb "cb" (encino, ca US) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Flying Star Feng Shui Made Easy: Third Edition (Paperback)
No history, no explanation, miniscule background, and there are some truly glaring errors. Must have been written from notes, which explains the jumpy editing and the problems with some of the calculations and theories. There are better sources for Xuan Kong calculations than this book (try Eva Wong or "Complete Idiot's Guide") and they don't mess up their math.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good info if you have the background, July 9, 2004
By

This review is from: Flying Star Feng Shui Made Easy: Third Edition (Paperback)
I felt compelled to add this review after seeing the book get five stars and one star and no review really providing a fair summary. This book is fairly advanced and has alot of great information in it and as someone states elsewhere is the only place where you can find information on the water placement that is in english. But this book is brief on explanations. Without some prior background readers will have a tough time figuring it out. But if you first read a book which provides a sound basis in nine flying star such as eva wong's book "a master's course in feng shui", or lillian too's book "nine flying star feng shui", or the complete idiot's guide, then you can read this book and put it to good use.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great basic Feng Shui manual, September 26, 2000
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Flying Star Feng Shui Made Easy: Third Edition (Paperback)
In the past few years, many books have come on the market about Feng Shui. Unfortunately, the majority of these books ignore, or even mock the traditional Feng Shui teachings. What Dr. Twicken has done here is to present the basics of the traditional Taoist method in an easy to follow form, making it ideal for either a beginner, or someone who has knowledge of the more popular methods and wants to begin learning Flying Star Feng Shui. I do want to clearly state that this book is about basics. There is a lot more to know if you want to become a professional in the field, but your foundation will be firm after studying this manual. With this book, you will be able to construct and correctly analyze a Flying Star chart. You will also be well prepared for learning the advanced teachings which are becoming more and more available in languages other than Chinese.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Incredible Find!, January 14, 2001
This review is from: Flying Star Feng Shui Made Easy: Third Edition (Paperback)
Indispensible handbook to the serious feng shui buff and to the authentic feng shui practitioner truly looking to offer the most complete information to their clients. Without this invaluable information --one could easily be giving incomplete and therefore seriously flawed consultation advice to the client. The formulations are so right on and accurate that it doesn't matter matter a bit whether you believe in them or not-- (in contrast to the more popular easy-to-apply types of feng shui that enlist your belief and intention and luck in the process).

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing, January 1, 2008
This review is from: Flying Star Feng Shui Made Easy: Third Edition (Paperback)
I was interested in learning about Flying Stars since I only had minimal exposure to this practice of Feng Shui. Given the title, I thought it would be a great way to start. Big mistake! I didn't understand most of it.

There was a lot of Feng Shui jargon I wasn't familiar with. I kept reading thinking I would catch on. It was a waste of money. Buy Flying Star Feng Shui by Stephen Skinner instead.
