5.0 out of 5 stars First CD I have bought in two years

3.0 out of 5 stars I Like One Song from the CD
I love one song from the CD. The rest of it is predictable and repetitive. Nice voice, but the lyrics lacked depth. I limit my country western exposure, and after four tracks into the CD, I had to turn it off.

If I sold stuff on Amazon, I'd sell this in a heartbeat because I know there are music lovers who love this artist.

5.0 out of 5 stars First CD I have bought in two years, May 10, 2008
This review is from: Flying Upside Down (Dig) (Audio CD)
I heard Griffin House for the first time this past April when he appeared on NPR, shortly before the release of this album. They played a few of the tracks, and I just had to stop everything I was doing to listen. It has been years since a new release has done this for me. For the last two years I have just bought songs on I-tunes but never a whole CD. The track Its Happening Again is profound, hart hitting folk, that would make Bob Dylan or Phil Ochs proud. When I try to describe Griffin House to friends I tell them his sound is 60% Dylan, 20% Bono, with a pinch or Springstien, Harrison, and Van Morrison. Griffin House writes deep, colorful, insigtful lyrics mostly about relationships be they with woman, friends, or family. The acoustic guitar and vocals are superb. This one will wow you and remind people of the bygone era when musicians were artists who made music instead of a seeming endless chain of contrieved, cookie-cutter, teen star pop crap.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ended up buying more CDs after this one, October 27, 2007
This review is from: Flying Upside Down (MP3 Download)
Definitely a laid back mood and initially reminded me of Jack Johnson but as you dig deeper GF feels a lot more serious and more like a stroy teller. "Better than Love", "I remember" are defninitely a must. "I remember" reminds me of Johnny Cash for some reason. "The Guy That Says Goodbye.." is also great but you can also find it on the "Homecoming" album. I would recommend getting the whole album and also picking up "Lost & Found" album too.

Just happened to see Griffin House in concert yesterday, touring with Sons of William (more great music!). A fine evening of music! Flying Upside Down is an excellent CD. Griffin seems like a very likeable guy. I wish him continued success and look forward to new releases and tours. If you are unsure, go to his website and listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, December 21, 2008
This review is from: Flying Upside Down (MP3 Download)
Saw Griffin play with the Ten out of Tenn bunch at Eddie's Attic, amazing show! While you can never fully capture the feelings and emotions of hearing him play in such an intimate venue, this album does come pretty close. Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rising star-- get on board now before he gets really big!, May 3, 2008
This review is from: Flying Upside Down (Dig) (Audio CD)
Great CD! Every song is really good. Nice bookend to the "Lost & Found" CD. Caught him (& Sons of William) in Athens, GA... great show! And, he's also a really nice guy. Good to see a good guy rising up the ladder & seemingly on the verge of making it big. He said he may be on Letterman on May 19-- so catch him live. Best of luck, Griffin!

4.0 out of 5 stars Watch out, John Mayer?, June 2, 2008
This review is from: Flying Upside Down (Dig) (Audio CD)
Sane women go crazy for John Mayer. I don't get it, but rather than argue with them, I went looking for a replacement. And Griffin House just might be the next one who can make women swoon. He's regulation cute: mid-20s, bedhead hair, clothes by Goodwill. In these songs, he's a gent --- the one who will be always been true, who gets you home safe, who tells you that any guy who doesn't love you is a damn fool. And he does all this with music that's Tom Petty Lite --- crisp hooks and memorable melodies, matched by a voice that's just plain good company. Key fact: At the club date I went to, most of the young women already knew the words.

5.0 out of 5 stars How I fell in love with Griffin House in 12 Hours...., February 4, 2009

I happened to walk into the Borders in Ann Arbor while Griffin was giving a live performance. At first I was about to leave since my intention of going to Borders was to study. However, within just a few seconds I was completely captivated by the music.

Not only does Griffin have a beautifully melodic voice but there are such elements of surprise in each and every song. A song will start off quiet and acoustic and then all of a sudden an eruption of bass and drums will come out of nowhere and you can't help but tap your foot. On top of that, the lyrics are absolutely captivating. Check out "The Guy That Says Goodbye to You If Out Of His Mind" and "I Remember".

I was lucky enough to see Griffin House live in concert that same day and I must say they are the band I have been waiting for. They put on an AMAZING performance and they sound even better live than on the cd in my opinion. (Plus, each member has a great personality and their performances are very intimate and entertaining.)

It has been a LONGGGGG time since I've come across a more talented band.
And trust me, they are definitely on their way to fame.
