About the Author

STONE MARSHALL started storytelling with his son at bedtime. When they would finish a book before falling asleep, Stone would fill the time by making up stories starring his son, Nabru the Great. Soon, new stories of Nabru began taking precedence over trips to the bookstore. The ideas and stories of Nabru are the seeds that grew into the series Stone Marshall Minecraft Adventures.

coming from a fathers perspective, I can honestly say, I just do not get the mindset of playing Minecraft. BUT, watching my son get into the game and his world, according to an 8 year old, is cool enough for me to take a look at it as well, at least reading about the adventures.

I happened to come across this book somehow when choosing a story to read on an iPad at bedtime, and am I ever glad I found it. We do chapter readings nightly with my son, this way we can continue the adventure over multiple nights if need be, and this book got us both hooked.

First of all it grabbed him based on the premise of someone being transformed into the digital world, it seems like he's already there when he gets into gameplay. But the story is written so well, that he really got into hearing of the adventures, the close calls and the thought it took for Flynn to prepare his own world and how the path of preparedness was instrumental in his survival.

I even found myself reading into the next chapter when he and I were done, and Im 30 years older. It was that much fun to read this with him. You could see it in his eyes when the dangers were close or if Flynn were to find himself at short odds.

This is a great book and I would and will, highly recommend it to youth to read. Next week we start Log 2. Thanks.

4.0 out of 5 stars I Highly Recommend this Book to Minecraft Fans April 15, 2014
By Dina
Format:Kindle Edition
I had so much fun reading this book.

I think anyone who likes Minecraft will love reading this book...especially if they like playing in survival mode.

I'm wondering if it could be used to introduce kids (and adults!) to Minecraft. I know some schools are starting to use Minecraft. It might be fun to start with this book.

My other idea is to use it as a gift package. If someone's at a loss about what to get their niece or nephew...they could buy them a gift card from Mojang along with this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Epic story of Survival April 17, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm in the middle of reading this book with my two boys, age 5 and 8...and we were all (including myself) completely hooked after the first "Log Entry" (or "chapter"). I promised to read them one chapter each night with them, but they never want to put it down. (This is unusual with my kids, who typically prefer comic-like books and don't usually have patience for chapter books). Although both of my kids play video games, neither has ever played Minecraft. But the idea of being pulled into the world of the game was immediately compelling and fascinating to them. I thought the comparisons between "real life" and life-within-the-game we're really funny and insightful. I also think the first-person narration adds to the overall excitement. Knowledge of Minecraft is unnecessary...but, of course, they are now clamoring to play it! In short, this a great read: ingenious set-up, exciting plot and strong characters. I'm hoping this author writes a sequel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Book! April 15, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I knew nothing about the Minecraft game before I read this book, and yet I was immediately drawn to Flynn's adventure log and the unique characters. Stone Marshall is a master story teller and engages the reader with drama, mystery, intrigue, and a few lessons for us mortals left in the real world. No matter your age or gender, you'll find Flynn's Rescue Island a place that you want to visit on your next journey.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best. Book. Ever! August 8, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the best book ever, I especially liked the parts where you can feel the suspension just builds up inside of you, and at the end I really wanted to read the second book and then after I saw the last page of the story
I was really disappointed when the story ended because it was getting to the good part at the time. So next week, I'm getting Flynn's log 2

When my non-reader asked if I would buy this for him I couldn't have been happier. He really enjoyed it and I REALLY enjoyed the fact that he didn't put his Kindle down until he was finished. He enjoyed the next books as well.
