This holster works best with a very heavy, tight belt., September 20, 2011
This review is from: Fobus Pdl Roto Ber92-96/Taurus (Misc.)
Despite some of what I read about the roto-paddle, I found that it should only be considered for concealed carry in the heavy-coat-and-jeans school of concealment.
It grips my Taurus PT-92FS (Beretta clone) very well, and presents a quick and snappy draw from small of back, hip, canted, straight or cross draw. The rotating lock is solid and when properly held in jeans with a gunbelt, the holster does not follow the pistol during a draw.
The downsides:
The size of the paddle and rotational assembly stand off too much to allow discreet, confident concealment under anything less than a jacket. (Edit: While you still need a jacket, wearing a tighter, heavier belt, like a Looper Law-enforcement belt, will minimize print.)
The clam-shell, pressure-based retention system which primarily grips the trigger guard stretches when the pistol is left in the holster. After just one day in the holster the retention is very noticeably relaxed. (Edit: After more use, the relaxation has been less pronounced, not more, oddly.)
Worn concealed with shorts and a T-shirt, the body-facing side of the holster and paddle has hard, pointy edges that can dig into you (at least they dig into me) in any of the positions I tested out. (My test was an hour long walk with the weapon in one position.)
In summation: If you plan to use this holster occasionally in certainly situations where concealment is secondary and your clothing is a little more utilitarian, then you'll be just fine.
For deeper concealment, I found that the reassuring ease of drawing was sublimated by the worrisome self-consciousness I felt when wearing it. If you don't mind the 9mm tumor under your shirt, then this holster would work well for you.
Edit: I've edited my review and raised it to four stars, based on my experiences from continual use. Through the winter, this holster has been much more useful than my soft-material holster.
