5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, January 23, 2002
By A Customer
The book is full of good recipes, most of them easy to make. The results are consistently good. For an unusual bread, try the potato focaccia recipe. Everybody in my family loves it, and it became one of the favorite lunches to take to work/school.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent book, April 30, 2003

Focaccia is my favourite bread, and since I live in Italy I get to eat it as much as I want. But I wanted to try making it on my own, and this book really helped me.
The recipes here are amazing and they really work. They are easy and tasty (they do taste better than the ones I buy at my local bakery). Also the variety is great. The one I like the best is "Focaccia Andrea Doria" but they are all excellent. The book is also filled with beautiful photos. Enjoy it.

This is a great book for many reasons: The pictures are beautiful, the writer knows the topic and the most important is that I've tried some recipes and they are just delicious.

5.0 out of 5 stars Focaccia heaven!, June 26, 2011

I simply adore focaccias! It's probably my favorite bread. I had tried many recipes through the years, from a variety of sources but had never had much success until I tried the recipes in this book. The results are simply scrumptious. I've done many of the recipes & they are all delicious. Since she uses a starter for many of the doughs, they have much more flavor than other recipes I've prepared that have only 1 rising. Some of the doughs in this book have 3 risings and yes, that does take more time, but it's completely worth it. The depth of flavor is amazing and you get a beautiful crumb & lovely texture. I've also had great results letting the dough rise slowly overnight in the fridge. It adds even more flavor. I just made a garlic & herb focaccia today for a party and many people said to me that they could eat the whole batch themselves. I felt the same way! I also highly recommend Carol Field's other books. They're all fantastic. I think the focaccias that you can prepare from this book are far superior to most that you can buy in this country and you can happily make them anytime!

This book is very well written and easy to follow. I made one of the items. I found out I don't like rosemary! The
bread it was on came out great! I will make some of the garlic based toppings next. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to cook. I used a pizza stone and parchment paper to cook on that made it supper easy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Move over pizza, there's a new flatbread treat in town!, March 7, 2010

Focaccia is age-old, and a fantastic alternative to pizza. You can make so many types of focaccia. prior to buying this book, I'd regularly make a full half-sheet pan of a basil-pesto focaccia topped with a a little cheddar and feta cheese. This book opened my eyes to so many different recipies.

it definately earned a place on the bookshelf next to my other italian favorites, like my book on risotto. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT book!, September 16, 2009
By
This review is from: Focaccia (Paperback)
I have made almost every recipe in this book and they all turn out PERFECTLY! It's amazing what a good cookbook can do for you're confidence. Buy this book if you have a kitchen aid mixer, because everything needs lots of kneading. I am asked for the recipes almost every time i make focaccia using these recipes. If you buy any bread book, buy this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect pizza, March 23, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love this book! The recipe for the basic pizza dough is the best. You can make a pizza the size of a baking sheet, or individual pizzas or calzones. Whatever, this dough will NEVER fail you. I've made other pizzas, like the Gorgonzola with red onion & pecans. To die for! If you make pizza you need this book.
