It illustrates, through hands-on tutorials using Visual Basic and ESRIÆs MapObjects product, how to use GIS software components to create, display and query geographic data. The book gives a good high-level primer on componentware, focusing on OLE-COM architecture, and then goes into MapObjects examples. MapObjects has advanced since the publication of this book, but it is still useful for beginners.
