The first book in this field
It is the first book that I have ever seen about this kind of science.

Good but dated.
The book gives a good high-level primer on componentware, focusing on OLE-COM architecture, and then goes into MapObjects examples. MapObjects has advanced since the publication of this book, but it is still useful for beginners.
