After buying the game despite the first 2 reviews and playing it now for about 10 hours I can only say: Not so bad. Of course it is no Baldur's Gate, but it's not a bad clone either. Nice graphics, good story, working GUI... more than good enough to kill a few days. I do not understand why the first 2 reviewers were THAT negative! I like it.
Okay, so the story is convoluted and probably tacked on as an afterthought. Also some of the maps are terribly confusing. But the game mechanics are pretty fun. I really enjoyed discovering the different abilities of my units, trying out different group makeups, and pushing the difficulty level of the game. It does play a lot like Baldur's Gate (or Dragon Age). If you're like me, that means queuing up an ability for each unit, pressing the space bar to unfreeze time for 2 seconds, then repeat. Maybe that's not fun for every one, but I liked it. The art is good, and all the character units, including the enemy ones, have a nice flavor page where you can study their abilities.
I took a stab at this game. From some gameplay and the words "baldurs gate mechanics" had me sold. I knew from the first mission and opening cinematic that this game was going to be terrible. The controls dont feel right the pace and movement are slow and boring. Fighting enemies is also boring. Worst 40 bucks ive spent in my life. Dont get this game! Reason why I bought it was I was desperate for a good game. Now this will just be sitting around till the end of time.
