5.0 out of 5 stars Pharmacology? Don't worry with this book.
I found it is the wonderful textbook for all nursing student and nurses to learn the pharmacology. The material for learn is design by way from simple to complex, with many NCLEX-RN style examination questions after each chapter. Plus the material about physiology and mechanism of action is very easy and interestedly to learn. I enjoy from this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nitrous Oxide is administerd IV according to Karch. Buy Lehne instead. Hundreds of mistakes in this book
The first time through pharmacology, we used Lehne's book which is fantastic. This book has so many mistakes it is dangerous as a reference.

Want an example? Page 431, Prototype Summary: NITROUS OXIDE ... the route given is: IV ! Anyone who has been to the dentist knows that nitrous oxide is inhaled. Amazingly, this book is in its FIFTH edition! There are...

There are (I kid you not) at least four-six mistakes for every ten pages in this book.

The Powerpoint slides provided obviously were created by a contracted team and not the author. The test bank was also created by a contractor and not the author. The Powerpoints, test bank, and study guide are also chock full of errors.

My final recommendation: Avoid all Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) textbooks. I have used three other LWW texts that have similar problems. Elsevier is the better choice for educating nurses.

Your nursing students will most likely fail the NCLEX if they are instructed using this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Focus on Nursing Pharmacology, October 24, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I found this book to be the most asininely edited book I've ever had to read! This book is littered with error upon error and I have not been able to contact anyone who can assist me by providing an errata sheet(s). Essential formula notations are improperly printed, review questions are incorrectly, and so much of my time is wasted just trying correct what is wrong that I can no longer trust the book as being accurate. To me the book is utterly useless, yet the nursing program I'm enrolled in requires it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great New Edition, May 26, 2011

Great updates from older edition. This pharm book has everything from basic A%P reviews of the systems and the drugs that affect them. Everything ties together and the newer nursing interventions information promotes better understanding and clinical application. I loved the old one but I love this one more!! With the new 2010 NCLEX test plan in effect I need all the insight I can in preparing for the exam and this book is solid. I purchased it two weeks before my pharm exam and I got my best test score of the semester. This edition is worth every penny of my small student budget because I will always have it and use it as I transition to the clinical setting as an RN.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to follow, February 18, 2009
Great for learning pharm, online access to questions and videos. All you need to do is put your code in after you scratch it off and it is there for you. Loved it, don't think would have passed pharm without this

Amy Karch has a wonderful wealth of knowledge & this book is a great resource for any nurse. Amy was one of my professors in grad school & we used this book for class. It was a great reference for pharmacology and pathophysiology. I refer back to it often.

Oops! Not very similar to the U.S. version which my classmates are using. I may have to work even harder to tread water in this class. Note to other potential buyers, if you are in the U.S. better to make sure you are getting the correct version.
