About the Author

Layla Barron (nee Allie) was born in Hout Bay (South Africa). She is married with three children. She followed the family tradition of becoming a teacher. Both she and her husband are currently teaching at Muhammadeyah Primary where her grandfather, the late H.S. Berdien was the founder and first principal. Presently she is also a part-time B.A. student at UNISA and intends to major in Arabic and Education soon. She hails from a close-knitted family of six whose mother, a dressmaker, was for years a sole breadwinner as her father passed away when she was quite young. Layla performed her pilgrimage in 1990 and believes it is important for women in a Western society to maintain their Islamic identity. She maintains that publishing this book is a start in encouraging youth to preserve their honour, dignity and integrity.

I'm not a Muslim, but I've found this an ideal book to share with other non-Muslims, who may feel put off by the attire of Muslim women. This book is full of photos of girls and women who demonstrate that it's easy to dress beautifully *and* Islamically at the same time.

"Focus on Scarf Styling" will be a great morale-booster for any young Muslim girl -- the pride and self-respect she sees on every smiling face in the book will be a tremendous inspiration.

It could be used with great benefit in classroom cultural studies as well, to show kids from other backgrounds that being an observant Muslim can be cool!

Hi, I am muslim and I purchased this book to style my scarf. Well, I am not disappointed! Really, these styles are originals, more of African or middle eastern styles, and are really beautiful. There are pictures and explanations for each step. Though, I think you need to read english to follow the steps, the pictures by themselves are not really sufficient. There is also beginners informations, as "how to pin" and how to choose your scarf. The book is agremented with translations of hadiths and ayats.

A nice and handy small book full of pictures with written instructions on headcovering and hijab styling.This book is particularly useful for any woman wants to practise head covering for reasons such as culture or religion but also for a fashion statement.It is really explanatory with step by step pictures on how to tie a head scarf.The printing quality is really good and very clear. The price is as well really good for the content.Enjoy.
