5.0 out of 5 stars West/East Coast?? Neh!! Sounds mo!! bangin' than any coast
All I can say is "This album is from the unkown space. Even Madiba (Nelson Mandela) will definately bounce to this" I consider it one of the illest offerings of the decade. Both the lyrics and the beats are on point, and are also complemented by his voice. The man does not have to write any book, his voice is one of the commanding and illest since Rakim. He is...

2.0 out of 5 stars An all out ILL Cd
I give much props to Defari's debut cd "Focused Daily". A masterpiece of underground hip-hop at it's best. This cd should be heard by everyone who enjoys hip-hop. Over 17 tracks, you don't have to change A song. The 2nd track titled "focused daily" is featured with Dilated Peoples member EVIDENCE and is a perfect song to introduce one to this...

He is also one of the most intelligent cats I have ever listened to. Him and Evidence almost sound the same in the second track. I would like to see him working with ELpppp!! (Company Flow) and Madlib in production, with Peanut Butter Wolf , DJ Revolution, or S. AMstrong on the brakes. We were hoping he will be part of our Black August in South Africa (this year). Fortunately Dead Prez, Talib, Jeru and Black Thought also represented to the fullest "Big Up". Hey!!!! this is a "MUST" for ALL MATURED HIP-HOP fans. YOU WON'T HAVE TO SKIP ANY TRACK UNTIL THE END. YOU JUST SIT BACK AND ENJOY DA RIDE TO HIS UNKOWN SPACE. PLEASE NOTIFY ME ABOUT HIS CURRENT WORK!!!

"Focused Daily" is definitely where you want to start if Defari's on your radar. This LP has a laid back approach with nonsense free hip-hop. Defari comes thru with a mellow delivery complimented by steady production from his peers the Alchemist, Dilated Peoples MC Evidence, and Tha Alkaholik's own E-Swift. You really cant go wrong with this selection, no regrets if you decide to purchase.& I'm out.Peace.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my Favorite West Coast MC's, September 18, 2006
This review is from: Focused Daily (Audio CD)
Defari's Focused Daily is the REAL DEAL. No filler what so-ever. His BEST record...so far. Lyrics & Beats complement, but I do wanna say that without the solid production found on here, I don't think his skills would've been able to carry this album. That's why I believe that this IS his BEST, but I am always open to think he will out do this one day.

4.0 out of 5 stars The L. dot A. dot, May 12, 2006
This review is from: Focused Daily (Audio CD)
Defari comes clean and correct in this album, chill ass beats, nothin' too rowdy, which i prefer, but he still flows hard- Focused Daily beat is flawless with Evidence collaborating with his old-skool Dilated Peeps type flow..........anyways...nice album-get it.

This album is so F%@ckin dope its a damn shame its not in print anymore, if you can find a brand new copy sittin on the shelves cop it, if not find a used joint. You will not be dissappointed, unlike todays pop-rap r&b type garbage this is hiphop at its purest form, also unlike todays watered down full of guest spots, skits and useless filler tracks, this album has 1 skit- the intro which is a dope DJ Revolution tribute to the God Defari, and the only Guest spots are from his extended fam- Evidence(Dilated Peoples), E-Swift, Tash, & J-RO(Tha Liks), and Xzibit. The Producers read like a hiphop junkies dream fix.. The Alchemist, Evidence, Dj Babu, and E-swift. You will not need to hit the skip or fast forward buttons just hit the repeat all on your cd player and let it ride over and over, just light some trees and crack a 40 Olde E or a bottle of Henny. The best joints(all of em are A+) are Focused Daily, Bionic,Never Lose Touch, Thunder N Lightinin', 405 Fridays, and These Dreams. Get This LP, cop Oddz N Evenz, The LA collection, any Defari 12"'s, The New joint Likwit Junkies(defari and Dj Babu) and anything Defari makes a guest appearance on especially the Dilated Peoples LP's and Xzibits 40 Dayz.. and Restless LP. Im out im bout to pop Focused Daily in my stereo and blow a bleeze if you know what im sayin... Peace Out G-Bo a true hiphop junkie since 1983.....

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty impressive, January 31, 2005
This review is from: Focused Daily (Audio CD)
After some guest collabs and just releasing singles, Defari comes on point when he breaks out his solo project, focused dailey. The album starts out nicely with the title song. I know everybody is talking about Bionics and Killing Spree as the best, but man, I think Focused Dailey was the winner. The beat is one of the best I've ever heard, I think it was produced by Alchemist, and the lyrics shows why he can boast that he's Focused Dailey. Don't get me wrong, Bionics and Killing Spree are as dangerous as their titles. Get this, pretty impressive for a debut album.

Though it is two years old , I recommend this album over several recent albums, beacause Defari is one of LA's top MCs, and the beats by Alchemist and E-Swift are raw like Big Daddy. The most knockin' joints is Yes Indeed and Focused Daily. I agree Defari would dust off Mr. Cheeks or maybe Jigga?

4.0 out of 5 stars Why is this slept on?, August 20, 2000
This review is from: Focused Daily (Audio CD)
I picked up this album three days ago and I have not stopped listening to it since. This album is one of the most consistent and amazing hip hop releases that I have ever heard. The production is incredible and Defari's skills only add to the greatness of this LP. I am HIGHLY recommending this gem to all of the TRUE hip hop fans. With the exception of one or two songs, this album is solid. Nonetheless, it draws rings around many of the current hip hop albums out now. Please check this one out. You will not be disappointed. If anything, you will pleased with this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Its worth a listen, March 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Focused Daily (Audio CD)
To me the album had a strong beggining and ending, but a weak middle. Tracks like "never lose touch", thunder and lightning, lowlands anthem and bionic should be more than enough to convince you that Defari Herut has skills. Chalk up another victory for the liquid crew.
