excellent vacation planner,

This review is from: Fodor's Arizona and the Grand Canyon 2008 (Fodor's Gold Guides) (Paperback)
This book is easy to follow, wisely laid out and super for details in planning a vacation no matter for how long, a week or a weekend. It is a little scant on hiking trail information like the level of difficulty or actual lengths. It could provide a trail guide, but these are also available on other sites and this book does provide much more than just what a trail guide book would.

not exactly what I wanted,

Although this book delivers all the usual great details that Fodors excells at giving, the section on the Grand Canyon was much smaller than I expected, considering that it was part of the title. It's a great overall guide to Arizona, but if you're looking for details about visiting and touring GC, another book devoted to only that subject might serve you better.

For several years I've been using the Fodor's published books when going on vacation and wouldn't consider another product. When planning my visit to Arizona (having never been there) it was very helpful and detailed. The book is organized very well and now contains comments that have been submitted by other travelers. The book also contains a LOT of information about the Grand Canyon.

I bought this book with the intention that it would be a companion book to provide important information about different areas while traveling NE and NW Arizona. But I realized that the book is not at all up to date. Many critical information are missing, which really surprised me. Overall, the book is a real disappointment. Wikipedia is more informative than this book. I would rather rely on Arizaona Highways publication than Fodor's book.

I can appreciate the time and effort placed into the compilation of this information, but the book certainly doesn't blow my skirt up. I found the layout somewhat difficult for finding specific tidbits of information about which I was interested in reading and the whole thing was rather uninviting. I want guidebooks that get me excited about seeing local sites - this one didn't do it.

This book was extremely helpful. It gives quickest routes and many tips on avoiding crowds and making the most of your time. In fact, we realized after reading this book that we had not planned our trip early enough, so we are postponing the trip a year in order to make earlier reservations.

I bought this book specifically to find out information about the Grand Canyon. Since it was in the title I thought this one would be great. There is only one chapter about the Grand Canyon in the entire book. I was extremely disappointed to find that they didn't even discuss lodging in the park. I wanted to get the inside scoop on how to score reservations and which hotels were the best places to stay. They only mention one hotel with almost no information. I considered returning this book because the information was inadequate but it wasn't worth the time and expense. Save your money. Fodor's, you've got to do better!

This book was a helpful tour guide. It includes great information about tourist areas throughout the state, which was perfect for my recent trip to the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, Sedona and Phoenix/Scottsdale. I highly recommend this guide.

I first reviewed this book from our public library then decided to buy it for myself to use over and over again as a reference.
