This review is from: Fodor's Around Washington, D.C. with Kids, 5th Edition (Travel Guide) (Paperback)
We used this more than the Fodor's Washington DC guide and the Eyewitness Guide. The prices, times, where to eat and Metro stops were easy to find and read. The tips about the best times to get to a specific site and when to buy tickets were great. Our kids are 11 and 8 and the suggestions about what might be interesting to them were spot on. I'd recommend this book to anyone going to DC with kids.

What Would I Have Done Without It?,

This review is from: Fodor's Around Washington, D.C. with Kids, 5th Edition (Travel Guide) (Paperback)
We bought this for a trip to D.C. with our nine-year-old granddaughter. I bought it expecting it to be for her benefit, but it turned out to be for mine. I would have spent hours on the Internet getting the information given in this book. The most useful part to us was the information on which Metro stop to use for each attraction. That alone made it worth the price. The information on where to eat was very useful, too. It was small enough to fit right in my purse so I didn't have to carry it around all day. We had already decided on the sites we were going to visit, so I didn't use it for that purpose, but nevertheless, it had interesting facts that I could relate to my granddaughter. It was well worth the purchase.

Best book for Kids going to DC,
This review is from: Fodor's Around Washington, D.C. with Kids, 5th Edition (Travel Guide) (Paperback)
My 10 year old son loves this book and so do I! It tells us the important stuff, location, contact info, prices, ages & hours. It also gives us little things like places to eat and fun other thing to notice and do while we are at each place. We LOVE this book!

A great supplement,

I purchased this book after getting a great deal on a hotel in a posh DC neighborhood. While I was excited about the hotel, I was quite concerned about finding affordable, child-friendly places to eat in the area. I chose this guide because along with descriptions of kid appropriate attractions, it recommends nearby eateries. The recommended places to eat were just what I needed to keep our daytime food expenses reasonable. Be warned that many of the recommended attractions are either seasonal or too far from public transportation to reach on foot (we traveled pre-Memorial Day and swore not to drive in DC traffic after parking our car at our hotel). Also, you'll need a separate map because only street addresses are provided. Otherwise, it was a helpful, compact travel book that paid for itself in meal money saved.

This book gave us great ideas for places to take our 6 year old. Most importantly, he is allergic to everything and autistic. This translates into an extemely picky eater. With it's recommendations for kid-friendly eating, Around Washington, D.C. with Kids is a God-send!

This is a great DC companion if you are going with children. Easily organized with loads of tidbits like if strollers are allowed, where to find kid-friendly food nearby, what Metro stop is closest and how much the attraction costs. Although, most meusums are free. DC is a beautiful, history-rich city and a must-see for every American. You will fall in love with your country all over again--just be prepared to walk.

This was a great tool. had all the nitty gritty details that helped us plan our visit, plus enough history to give the kids an overview. Loved the little "extra" bits of information about the sites - strangers would gather around to hear me when I was reading them aloud! (example - Abraham Lincolns hands doing sign language.
