We have a lot of books about Italian cities -- Naples, Florence, Rome. The Fodor's Citypacks don't have the broadest coverage or the most detail, but they give a good overview and the maps are good (but were better in the older editions, alas). If you are only buying one book about a city -- or only taking one with you -- the Citypacks are the best we have seen. I just wish they were lighter.
