Spectacular guide!!!!!
This guide was great! I had been to Shanghai before, and can speak Mandarin, but this guide was well worth the money. The map was accurate, the "Top Sights" was right on, and was more informational than the govt. sponsored travel groups. I will be picking up a Citypack for my next trip to a new city for sure!

Inadequate alone - a good second guide
Road tested in Shanghai in May 2000. This book is inadequate by itself - no place names in Chinese script to show taxi drivers - no warnings about the ingenious scams - but if you have the indispensible Lonely Planet Guide - this is a good, much simpler book to take along too.

This guide was great! I had been to Shanghai before, and can speak Mandarin, but this guide was well worth the money. So-so Guidebook,

Used this and Insight Guide for a week in Shanghai in 11/00. If you are looking for a concise, compact guide I thought the Insight Guide was much better. After the first day, this one stayed in the Hotel Room.
