After researching numerous possible guides, I purchased this little volume for a two-week vacation stay in Portland this past summer. Because of its compact size, wealth of information, and comprehensiveness, I took it with me wherever I went in discovering the many wonderful sites of this unique and very pedestrian-oriented city. The descriptions, reviews, and ratings of restaurants, museums, parks,and other sites were most helpful in planning itineraries throughout the city - both downtown and in many of the fascinating Portland neighborhoods. Although small in size, it is packed with very useful information and numerous small maps that I referred to constantly during my time there. One of the best features for me as a walker was its light weight and portability. A super companion for the Portland visitor!

FODOR'S IN FOCUS PORTLAND, 1ST EDITION is a great book about Portland, Oregon. It features wonderful information on where the best sightseeing, dining, nightlife, shopping, and culture is in Portland and the surrounding areas. The book cherry-picks from everything the area has to offer and includes only the things really worth searching out. This book will provide lots of reading pleasure for anyone seriously interested in the Pacific Northwest.

great little book --hit all the highlights of Portland and was small enough to take along. I liked the historical section also

We spent 8 days divided among Portland, the Northern Coast, the Columbia River Gorge, and the Mt. Hood area. Our time in each of those areas was well-supported by this handy, accessible and highly reliable guide. The writing style is warm and insightful.
