I got this book as a gift so I could remember my times in Hawaii. I lived there for a couple of years and recently got back from a long vacation there. I looked through the book, and I have to say I was surprised at how accurate it was. I wish when I was planning my vacation I had the brains to go out and get a book like this! It doesn't have EVERYTHING in it, but I think thats why you get the book, because its only supposed to have the good stuff so you don't waste your time! I had to find out the hard way. I have to say it had all the best restaurants in it - I've eaten at most of them, great reviews of the night spots and beaches and activities.
One complaint is that they said "The Wave Waikiki" was still open, but I'm pretty sure they tore that down - a few years ago actually. I might be mistaken cause I don't live there, but I think thats where Trump is building now. So it might not be perfect, but the maps are great. And I get lost A LOT.
Definitely worth your time. I have only been to a couple of the islands, and can't wait to use it for when I go to the others.

I really was very happy with this product. In it we found several descriptions of hotels and destinations that we might not have known about otherwise. One of the best suggestions I found was to try the "Loco Moco." If you go to Hawaii you should try it too.

One of the few things I would say was not quite accurate was the description of the walk to the top of Diamond Head. Again, you should do it, but don't believe them when they say it's a trek that Grandma could do. She could if she took her time (hours) and had plenty of water.

All in all, the goide was helpful and worth the purchase.

We have purchased these guide books for years and knew what quality we would receive. It was received in the time stated and in brand new condition.

I bought three books after looking into several online and in the local bookstore -- this one, the Lonely Planet Hawaii and Pauline Frommer's Hawaii. This was by far the best written for new travelers and easiest to use. It was a constant companion for months before the trip and while on three islands.

Well written and organized . Use it for planning, take it on the trip , and bring it home as a souvenir.

I purchased this book and one other (Hawaii The Big Island Revealed). Before leaving for our trip, my husband and I read from both books. Very quickly, we were fighting over the "other" book. Fodor's was boring and the type was small and compact; just not an easy read. Vacations are a fun thing and Fodor's Hawaii made it so matter-of-fact, cut and dry, ho hum...

We brought the book along with us on our 10 day Hawaiian vacation, just in case we needed a reference. The book ended up on the floor of our rental Jeep, stomped and dirty by the end of the trip, unopened. The "other" book was our Hawaii Bible.

I suppose if you are visiting a bunch of islands in a short amount of time, this book is all you need. It would hit the high points of each island and work as a general guide.
