Great Guide Book,
By Sun City Walt "Walt" (South Carolina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fodor's Morocco, 4th Edition (Travel Guide) (Paperback)
The selection of the right guide book depends upon what details one really needs. For Morocco, we are traveling with a tour group so that our itinerary and method of travel and routes were established for us. What we wanted to know were details about Morocco in general, specifics of the sites in each place we were to visit, maps of the towns and cities that showed attractions, museums, restaurants etc. Fodors' contained all this and more. It had sites not to be missed, detailed, readable maps, and an overview of the country, people and customs.

Full of useful tips about toilets, t-shirts, tipping and traveling around.
Makes an American traveler feel more comfortable, especially knowing this country sets a high standard for hospitality. Explains how to bargain and understanding what to expect when shopping in a medina is worth the price of the book alone. Then, there is the helpful advice for traveling on your own and finding lodging in out of the way places, all the while, encouraging the tourist to explore.

Good for a basic introduction but little else,
This review is from: Fodor's Morocco, 4th Edition (Travel Guide) (Paperback)
After reading through the entire book while planning a trip to Morocco, I found myself constantly going to the internet to look up more information. This book reads like the writers were unimpressed with the country and the attractions - even the famed berber hospitality seems like it got an emphatical "meh". If you want a basic introduction of whats where, this book works, but you'll need more resources if you are planning a trip anywhere else than Fez and Marrakesh. If you want a book that will get you excited about your upcoming trip and the culture you are to be diving into, look elsewhere.

Boxed info on sidebar very informative. Not too many photos, which is good. |
