If you are looking to read about book that gives you an indepth look at New York, this is the book to get. From Chelsea to the West Side, its got everything. Shopping, dining, entertainment and even tips for riding the sudway. It gives you idea on where to shop for your budget and even hints on where to go for free when money is tight. It also gives you a pull out map in the back that you can take a long with you when you finally make it to the Big Apple.

I have wanted to learn about the hottest spots in Manhattan, and Fodor's New York City 2000 was very helpful. In addition to having found some great clubs and restaurants, I was also able to find great and affordable areas in which I can shop without maxing out my credit cards. Also, there are tips on how to protect yourself when taking the subway train late at night. The information in this book is precise and very informative. I highly recommend this book, especially if you're thinking about moving to New York City.

I have read this book and the recommended resturants in this book are simply superb. You almost know what you can expect from a particular place if you have read the reviews in Fodor's guide. This book has helped me several times and I still keep this as a must companion whenever I go to the city.
