I'm in the process of planning a trip to Nova Scotia this summer and got this book to help decide where to go and what to do. Although I haven't been to NS yet so I can't comment on the accuracy of its descriptions, I have found this book to be very helpful.
This book presents the towns and attractions in a clockwise order around NS starting with Halifax. I find this to be the logical thing to do, since that's what I would expect most visitors would do - start at Halifax and travel either clockwise or counter-clockwise around the providence. Other books list locations in alphabetical order, which is great if you already know what you're looking for, but not as great when trying to plan an itinerary.

Each location has a short description of what you might find there, with restaurants, lodging, sports, and pub/nightclub activities detailed. A short "off the beaten path" section is placed between locations when there is something worth departing from the main drive for.

Although the internet allows for complete planning of a trip, nothing beats a book for curling up in a chair, flipping through pages, and highlighting the items of interest. I plan to take this book with us when we make the trip. I highly recommend getting this book if you are planning to trip to the Maritime Provinces. I haven't used it for the other provinces, since we plan to stick to NS and maybe St. John, NB, but I would expect it to be just as useful for any of the locations it covers.

This book is probably really good for folks that are looking for specific hotels and restaurants or want to spend more time in the city. I much rather like the history and great views. Although this book had those, it really didn't go into enough detail and spent more time on items that didn't interest me like hotels and restaurants. Suppose it really depends on what you are looking for.
