5.0 out of 5 stars Great Guide To The Pacific Northwest
FODOR'S PACIFIC NORTHWEST, 17TH EDITION is a great guide to Oregon, Washington, and the Canadian province of British Columbia, with extensive sections on Portland, Seattle, Tacoma, and Vancouver, as well as a full guide to all of the national parks and other outdoor activities on both sides of the U.S.-Canadian border. The sections on major cities (Portland, Eugene,...

2.0 out of 5 stars waste of money
I bought three books for my pacific northwest trip and I will never do it again. Who writes these mediocre books? People who think that Mac Donalds is great food? One book was hardly different from the other (Hidden was particularly depressing since it espoused to list "hidden" places, but instead listed the same stuff as Fodor). The food and hotels were particularly...

This review is from: Fodor's Pacific Northwest, 17th Edition (Travel Guide) (Paperback)
The sections on major cities (Portland, Eugene, Tacoma, Seattle, Vancouver) offer full coverage of the best attractions, dining, nightlife, shopping, and lodging in those areas. The latter includes University Village and Easy Street Records in Seattle, Clackamas Town Center Mall, Lloyd Center Mall, and Washington Square Mall in Portland, and the Tacoma Mall in Tacoma. This is a wonderful book which you shouldn't pass up.

2.0 out of 5 stars waste of money, September 13, 2010

This review is from: Fodor's Pacific Northwest, 17th Edition (Travel Guide) (Paperback)
The food and hotels were particularly awful. After the third or fourth terrible meal billed in our guide books as excellent, we started looking on-line on our cell phones for local reviews and using the local weekly mags. Local folk were also a great help finding out of the way and great places to visit and eat. Travel books are clearly a racket!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great travel ideas for Pacific Northwest, May 13, 2009
This review is from: Fodor's Pacific Northwest, 17th Edition (Travel Guide) (Paperback)
Haven't taken the trip yet, but this travel guide has given me some great ideas and tips for when I am ready for the trip. Things are clear and the maps are great. Makes it easy for all the information to be in the same place so you can mark the pages you like and handy enough to carry around with you. Ready to take the trip now!

1.0 out of 5 stars Best for the Elderly, August 12, 2010
This review is from: Fodor's Pacific Northwest, 17th Edition (Travel Guide) (Paperback)
Fodor's travel guides market is targeted for people who are not computer savvy, i.e. those who are illiterate and/or senior citizens. This guide is fine if you are over 60 and don't want to travel outside your comfort zone of Howard Johnson's, Holiday Inn's, TGIF, Applebees and other restaurants which have early dinner specials for senior citizens.
