4.0 out of 5 stars Fodors 2000 - Paris, January 25, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Fodor's Paris 2000 (Paperback)
This guide was incredibly helpful in planning our 10th Anniversary trip to Paris! It gave detailed descriptions of neighborhoods, sites, lodging and dining. This book combined with internet price-shopping lead us to the best rates on the best hotels - we wouldn't have found our hotel with views of the Eiffel Tower without this guide. Highly recommend buying this book to plan your trip, set your itinerary (valuable insight as to closed days of museums, avoiding long lines, off-the-beaten path discoveries and more!)and accompany you on a first trip to the city of lights!

3.0 out of 5 stars Can a book by Fodor's compare with the Let's Go series?, December 11, 1999
By
Dustin Overbeck (Door County, Wisconsin) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fodor's Paris 2000 (Paperback)
I have ALWAYS used Let's Go for all my travels, in both Europe and the United States. So when I went to the local bookstore look at the contents of Let's Go: Paris, I also decided to look at Foder's, as well, just to make sure I was making the right choise of guide book. To tell you the truth, I wasn't impressed with the Fodor's series of books. I then logged onto Amazon.com to check out the reviews for both series (Fodor's and Let's Go) and I wasn't surprised to see that there were no reviews for Fodor's at all! Many people have given reviews to the books from Let's Go, most of them have 4 or 5 stars! If you are interested in budget travel, knowing a bit about the history of the place you are visiting, finding out where the hot-spots and off-the-beaten-trail locations are, and how to get there from the airport, train station, bus station, metro, THEN BUY LET'S GO, instead! The Fodor's series are informative and stuffy-reading, the Let's Go series is opinionated and has details that are worth reading and knowing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great, General Resource, July 18, 2001
This review is from: Fodor's Paris 2000 (Paperback)
We recently returned from a trip to Paris and found the Fodor's guide to be the most useful we brought. Fodor's covers a wide range of sites, restaurants, and hotels in all price ranges. While we found the Time Out guide to be more on target for nightlife, and Rick Steves to be more focused on budget travel, neither offered the panoramic scope of this guide. If I were to use only one guide book, this would be it.
