5.0 out of 5 stars How Did I Ever Live without These?, July 13, 2005
Manila folders are office staples. We keep hearing about the paperless office, but it appears to be a long time in coming. Actually, things around our office are such that most managers have a printer on their desk. We seem to go through a case of paper a day. Much of that paper gets saved somewhere, and the ubiquitous manila folder gets the job of organizing.

The manila folder originally got its color from the manila hemp or abaca plant, which comes from a relative of the banana. I do not know for sure whether that plant is still used in production of manila paper or not.

Regardless of where the color of the paper comes from, the 1/3 cut is useful if you have lengthy titles. Also, the ability of the folders to expand to 3/4 inch means that these folders will hold a lot of paper. These particular folders are a bargain. I prefer buying a box at a time so that I have plenty to have on hand for organizing. Also, when I first get the box I will place the folders so that the tabs alternate, to make it easier to see the titles.

Perhaps one day the paperless office will arrive. Until it does, the manila folder is going to be a valuable method of keeping papers grouped together. Time to stop reviewing and go stuff some papers into a manila folder. Later!
