Instant Coffee Taste,
This review is from: Folgers Home Cafe Coffee Pods, Decaffeinated (16 Single-Serve Pods) (Kitchen)
I was really disappointed with the taste of these coffee pods. Being made by Folger I expected a decent cup of coffee. I tried both Regular and Decaf. They taste like instant coffee and a weak instant coffee at that. You have to use two pods even for a small cup to produce bearable coffee.

We've used the Senseo machine for about a year now and due to dropping the water resevoir once too often, had to go out today to pick up a new unit. Sear's had clearance price on the Black & Decker so that's what we have now. Of course we HAD to 'break it in' tonight so we'd be ready to roll in the morning, hehe. I think the Black & Decker has a better resevoir system over the Senseo, but basically they perform about the same. The locking system on the B&D is a little more awkward, but seems to lock it down tighter than the Senseo. I'd love to have the double cup pod brewer I saw at Sears made by Braun, but at $153, I find that not too appealing compared to a $39 B&D. Maybe next time around.
We tried a LOT of different coffee pods as we like ours strong. We found that by brewing with 2 pods, one being a French Vanilla (Home Cafe) and the other being a Yuban, and brewing the small portion size, one can get a nice strong cuppa that rivals Starbucks (especially since most of them now have switched over to the 'new' machines which brews the espresso much weaker & we end up having 1 or 2 EXTRA shots (at 55 cents each) added to our Americanos). We also add the French Vanilla (sugar free) CoffeeMate & Splenda to make it "just right". I keep the brewer right on the corner of the coffee table and we make shot after shot until we've got our 'fix', LOL. I'm looking forward to trying the new Cappucino and Latte specialty pods that they're bringing out, but am a little concerned that they only come 8 pods/pkg. (read: whew! expensive!). If you're coffee junkies like us, the speed at which these pod machines crank out our 'medicine' is terrific on a busy morning!

This coffee tasted bland. I recommend Senseo's version because it works with also works with Home Cafe and has a stronger, earthier taste (5stars).

I was ready to HATE these coffee pods, but they're actually very, very good. The most important factor in determining the quality of coffee pods is freshness, and the coffee in these pods deliver is best described as fresh ground quality, with lots of delicious oiliness and dark roast flavor. I do not believe these pods are compatible with machines using the E.S.E trademark, but they certainly work well with my in-laws' Black and Decker machine. If you're looking for a really good single serve coffee, you can't do much better than this.

Just like Folgers from a can,

I don't like Folgers from a can, but my husband does. He doesn't drink coffee as strong as I do. We got a bag of pods with our Home Cafe and I tried making a stronger batch by using two pods with less water. Didn't like it, but it does taste just like Folgers from a can for the non-single brewing machines. For him, it's not the best coffee, but it's fine for an everyday cup of coffee.
If you like Folgers in general, you should like the pods. If you don't, these are not any better. Every brewer has different settings between the amount of water used with the pods, so you can adjust as desired (make it stronger, weaker) and the taste will stay the same.

This may be the closest I have come to a perfect cup of coffee. The convenience and lack of cleanup is a definite plus. Cant wait until the speciality coffees come out.

I have not tasted the others, but I am VERY please with the french vanilla. It is not strong at all. I can use one pod for a full mug and it taste great.

My kids and I spent an afternoon trying out the whole line of pods designed for the Home Cafe and Senseo systems -- we own/use the Senseo unit. Naturally, your results may vary depending on what type of system you own and the style of coffee you drink.
My kids felt the Folgers brew had the best aroma, and indeed it does have that distinctive Folgers air about it; while this was a very acceptable cup of joe, I felt the other brews were better; my favorites: Millstone Columbian Supremo and Senseo Medium & Dark roasts.

I just brewed a cup of folgers classic using my philips senseo. I found the folgers to be remarkable similar to the Douwe Egberts taste wise, however the Douwe Egberts pods are slightly richer and fuller bodied. Overal these pods make a decent cup of coffee, certainly better than what you would expect from Folgers, but the Douwe Egberts dark pods are superior.

The coffee brewed with these pods is excellent! I use them in my Senseo brewer and they work perfectly. For the normal cup of coffee (8 oz.) I use one pod and the strength and flavor are great. If you want a real jolt, use two pods. Glad there is an alternative to the Senseo 'proprietary' pods (the Millstone pods work well also!) As they become more popular, lets hope the price comes down a bit.
