Editorial Reviews

?This is a concise, comprehensible introduction to the scholarly study of Indo-European folk and fairy tales....Ashliman's handbook admirably serves its purpose--to make folk and fairy tale study organized and accessible to students. The work includes a useful glossary and an extensive bibliography of print and Web resources. Recommended. General readers; lower-division undergraduates.?-Choice

I have nothing but praise for Professor Ashliman's website containing links to a treasure trove of texts and criticism about folktales. I ordered this book with high hopes, and although it might be worthwhile for a novice, it did not offer new information to me.
