As you can guess from the title, this is a book full of folk tales that every child should know. They are drawn from all over the world, and while a few of them are well-known, most of them are more obscure. It's a great introduction and starting point for world folk-lore, and a group of well-written stories to boot.

There is an active, though unofficial, table of contents, and the few end-notes are properly linked. There were no scanning errors, but one of the stories (Tom Tit Tot) is in dialect, which can be ...challenging.

Contains the following stories:

Hans in Luck
Why the Sea is Salt
The Lad Who Went to the North Wind
The Lad and the Diel
Ananzi and the Lion
The Grateful Foxes
The Badger's Money
Why Brother Bear Has no Tail
The Origin of Rubies
Long, Broad and Sharpsight
Intelligence and Luck
George with the Goat
The Wonderful Hair
The Dragon and the Prince
The Good Children
The Dun Horse
The Greedy Youngster
Hans, Who Made the Princess Laugh
The Story of Tom Tit Tot
The Peasant Story of Napoleon

Its a collection of folk tale and I admit I have not heard some of them, It is great digital reading material especially it helps children in literature, some stories may be obscure for some children but that is the challenge. I personally like it especially when My sons and daughter asks questions about the stories in the book and we would try to read them together and analyze it together.

I think that books like this are good for the small minds and that is why I placed in 5 stars for this digital book.

Why does this book not make sense? Well, I can answer that! First of all, there is no table of contents!!! Next, it has nonsense words such as niver, dooon't, and darter. They say a king marries a darter, you know an anhinga, or a fish? I'd say
that «darter » means daughter, doooon't means
don't, and niver is never!!! However, those words
don't start 'til near the end, so enjoy the beginning! Anyways, it is a good book so it has
a well-deserved 3 stars.

I kept reading this book little by little at my bedtime for almost a week. It was very nice to have relaxing stories to read to bed:-) However, some stories had spelling issue which I suspected that transforming into kindle format might have caused the problem. But I love reading children book...and this one is very good:-)

I grew up on fairy and folk tales, and believe they are an important part of every child's heritage and teach some valuable lessons. This is a good collection from around the world, although by no means complete. But it is a great beginning if your child has not heard or read a lot of folk tales before.

So many good stories from all over the globe, some familiar and others I had never read. Definitely recommend especially if you have imaginative children!
