Product Description

This Appalachian (also called Mountain or Lap Dulcimer) is US made by Folkcraft. It features solid wood construction, an easy-reach 27" fret scale with 18 frets including a 6 1/2, molded nuts and bridges for consistent action, slots for traditional and 4 equidistant string spacing, and high quality geared tuning pegs. It has a two-piece book matched back with an inlay strip. The fingerboard is Maple overlaid with varying exotic woods with matching heel cap.
The sound of Folkcraft's Custom Model dulcimers is particularly well balanced. They're bright as well as mellow. An excellent choice for the serious player. Available with either African Padauk or American Curly Maple. These dulcimers feature a choice of either a traditional scroll with smooth tuning Stewart MacDonald planetary pegs or a "guitar style" head with sealed geared tuning machines, a 1 1/2" wide fingerboard with overlay and three mother of pearl position dots, a two-piece book-matched back with center inlay, a matching heelcap, and a choice of spruce or western red cedar sound board. 37" x 8" x 2 1/4"
