An excellent reference for elementary school classes in multiculturalism and science,
By Charles Ashbacher (Marion, Iowa United States) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)
This review is from: Folklore and Legends of the Universe (Isaac Asimov's New Library of the Universe) (Library Binding)
When young American students are in their classes, the fact that other cultures had other names for natural sights is often lost. That is especially true for the patterns of stars in the night sky called constellations. This is unfortunate as this would be an excellent opportunity to introduce the folklore of other cultures. It is also interesting to note that the different cultures created different patterns when they connected the dots of stars in formation.
Therefore, this book would be an excellent reference for elementary school classes in multiculturalism as well as science. As always, Isaac Asimov does a superb job in explaining the science at a level that the elementary school student can understand.
