This is a wonderful puppet. One hand goes inside the puppet to operate the neck (up/down/around) and beak (open/close). The other goes inside either of the 'wings' which act as gloves so you have a fully articulate hand that you can use to make gestures. Both 'wings' in the puppet are identical so you can operate the puppet independent of whether you're right handed or left handed. I sometimes remove my hand from the neck and use both hands when making dramatic gestures or when both are needed, like when hugging my daughter (3 yrs old).

This is my first major puppet experience and I'm enjoying it as much as the kids.

I've used the puppet to successfully entertain my daughter and friends (so far up to 5 yr olds) for up to 1 hr at a time (by then I need a break, they could go on). Of course, this depends on how creative you can get with the puppet. I've found it interesting how quickly young ones will start interacting with the puppet as a live thing and forget that I'm there even though I'm fully moving my lips.

Rating under educational ability depends on what you choose to do with the puppet. I'm using it for fun and within my 'chicken dialogues' I'll intersperse lessons of different types.

Durability was rated 4 because I've only had this for 1 month and haven't had to clean it yet.

This is an awesome chicken puppet!!!! You can do so many great things with it!! It can flap it's wings, move it's head, open and close it's mouth, and lots more!! It is made of a great material that is soft and hardly ever gets dirty!! I would rate rate it five stars for sure!

The picture doesn't do it justice. It's a cute chicken and the design makes it fun and easy for kids and adults. It's durable and washes nicely.

I am planning on having tons more fun with these puppets. Already did one puppet show with the pair. They are terrific dancers and rappers.

This was a gag gift to a friend who raises chickens...they say they've had a lot of fun with it.

Love this chicken puppet! I ordered this bird very last minute, and I'm so glad it made it in time. It totally stole the show. The head and beak took some pinching and reshaping out of the box, but still worked well. The legs are pretty floppy, but I think it added to the character. The best part is definitely the wings (you put your own hands in them- like "Telly" on Sesame Street). It allows for so much more expression. Great little chicken!

This chicken is very much loved by a 14 month old. The puppet action is good. The fur is super soft and cuddly. The chicken breast is very squishy. Only downside is that you can't control both chicken hands and beak at the same time... but it's still a good chicken.

This has to be my kids very favorite toy. I got it when he was three when I noticed he told his toy hippo he had a hard time going potty, but never told me that directly, so it was as if things he was self conscious about, he told his play toy instead of me. Indeed, he tells "Chicken" things he doesn't tell me and I love this puppet for that fact. He's constantly bringing "Chicken" to me saying "I want Chicken talk to me" which is fantastic because he's in speech therapy and this helps to get him speaking instead of, say, watching TV or feeling tension and pressure to speak perfectly to me directly. Awesome fun toy.

This is a most amazing puppet. We leave it lying around the living room, and friends who come over can't resist trying it out. Hilarious range of expressiveness with the wings. Practically speaking, you never use both wings because then the head just flops side to side. But one hand for the head and one for one wing makes for a lot of fun. Sturdy construction makes this a sure hit. Highly recommended.

I bought this puppet as a gift for a 7 year old child. He loves it so much that he takes it to bed with him. It is his favorite toy. He loves making the chicken "talk and sqawk". It is easy to maneuver and brings hours of enjoyment. The "wings" are too large for a child to use and that is the only complaint for this toy. I love seeing children use their imagination instead of sitting and playing on a computer.
