This is a wonderful puppet. One hand goes inside the puppet to operate the neck (up/down/around) and beak (open/close). The other goes inside either of the 'wings' which act as gloves so you have a fully articulate hand that you can use to make gestures. Both 'wings' in the puppet are identical so you can operate the puppet independent of whether you're right handed or left handed. I sometimes remove my hand from the neck and use both hands when making dramatic gestures or when both are needed, like when hugging my daughter (3 yrs old).

This is my first major puppet experience and I'm enjoying it as much as the kids.

I've used the puppet to successfully entertain my daughter and friends (so far up to 5 yr olds) for up to 1 hr at a time (by then I need a break, they could go on). Of course, this depends on how creative you can get with the puppet. I've found it interesting how quickly young ones will start interacting with the puppet as a live thing and forget that I'm there even though I'm fully moving my lips.

Rating under educational ability depends on what you choose to do with the puppet. I'm using it for fun and within my 'chicken dialogues' I'll intersperse lessons of different types.

Durability was rated 4 because I've only had this for 1 month and haven't had to clean it yet.

The picture doesn't do it justice. It's a cute chicken and the design makes it fun and easy for kids and adults. It's durable and washes nicely.

This is an awesome chicken puppet!!!! You can do so many great things with it!! It can flap it's wings, move it's head, open and close it's mouth, and lots more!! It is made of a great material that is soft and hardly ever gets dirty!! I would rate rate it five stars for sure!

I got this as a Christmas gift to my husband and 10 month old. Both enjoyed playing with the puppet and it is a toy that as my son grows will still be relevant. Will buy more!

My 2 year old son got this for Christmas and he has barely set it down. It is a large puppet(a bit larger than I expected) and has very good details (although I have never seen a chicken with blue eyes). My son tries to feed it snacks and have it use the potty. My son also can operates it a bit and my husband and I take turns operating it. Both of our kids find it entertaining and they talk to it like it is real. Lots of fun. I would highly recommend.

We love Folkmanis puppets and this one is so fun! This comical chicken brings a smile every time. It is truly hilarious and the children absolutely love it! The wings are made like gloves, so hands fit inside quite comfortably and when you move a wing with one hand and open and shut its beak with the other, it really comes to life. I almost wish I had a third hand just so I could work both wings and the beak all at once. This puppet has a lot of personality and character, and it is soft and very well made. I highly recommend!
