I¡¯m considering Chinese lessons for my 5 & 6 year old sons, and picked up the Follow Jade videos to try and get a feel for what we¡¯d be in for. In the first half of the summer, my sons (and I) have managed to learn the numbers, fruits, and other basic words. But perhaps most importantly, I feel that the videos have helped to train my ears in preparations for Chinese lessons in the fall.

Jade¡¯s videos are not a Chinese emersion program. If that¡¯s what you¡¯re looking for, you should just take your kids to China for the summer. What the videos do, and do very well, is teach kids some basic Chinese while familiarizing them with the correct sounds, all while presenting China in a positive, colorful light

My 4-year-old and I are both learning Chinese (Mandarin) from Jade's video, so I would say that it helps both kids and adults alike! Jade uses fun techniques to make learning enjoyable...my daughter loves watching this show and I love the fact that she's learning at the same time! Recommended!

The presentation of the content was very clearly presented and entertaining (from my kid's perspective). As a co-author of a language book myself I could appreciate how this was assembled.

Ok, my 6 year old daughter took an interest in learning Chinese and so I got this video and another Jade video... She didn't stop watching them. She *enjoyed* watching them. But the thing that stunned me was perhaps one or two days after I gave her the videos, she was speaking Chinese! (I'm told her accent is pretty good too! LOL)

I bought this video and the "Follow Jade! Let's Go to Market in China" video for my 2 year old. She loves it and is asking to watch it constantly. She counts to ten in Chinese more than English now and will sing the songs as well. She jumps and dances around everytime the kids are singing. I wish there were books to go along with these videos, but they are a great tool themselves.

I recently purchased "Follow Jade: Let's Visit a Chinese Kindergarten" for my grandchildren. They had outgrown Barney and Sesame Street and I wanted to offer them something both challenging and fun. Not only are they spellbound by the children from China but they challenge each other to see who is learning Chinese the best and most quickly. They're even teaching their grandfather & me! Jade is a charming and obviously intelligent young woman who reaches out and touches her young listeners with her charm and fresh teaching methods. I would highly recommend this video for your children, grandchildren or even adults who want to learn the basics of Chinese.

I first checked this out at the library a number of times and because my 3 year old (who is half-Chinese, but doesn't speak the language) asked for it over and over, i finally thought to buy it on line.
She watches it just as much and loves Jade. Same with the other Jade video re going to the market

The Follow Jade dvd's are great. There are two, one going to Kindergarten, and one going to the market. Only thing is that she teaches you the name of things, but doesn't teach you how to ask for it in a sentence. Hope she expands on that with more dvd's.

Also, we love the Mei Mei DVD's. We have all of them. The best one is the Sing and Learn one because the songs are very catchy. We also bought it in a cd.

Plus, we also bought this gorgerous "ASIAN AMERICAN BERENGUER GIRL DOLL" from EBAY, and my daughter absolutely loves to play with the beautiful doll and watch her Chinese dvd's.

my kids loved this video.it's a perfect introduction for anyone who wants to start learning chinese.i've been so impressed,i'm going to buy the other 'jade' video.

All the family loves the video. That's the first time chinese language appears accessible to us. Jade Qian has a natural talent of communication with kids. My two daugthers learned basic words in Chinese about greetings, numbers, farm animals, color, fruits and familiar children songs. It's a great start to introduce children to foreign languages and countries. It opens the mind to the world. Bravo!
