A must-have for Catholic homeschoolers,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Follow Me (Paperback)
If Amazon allowed enough room for a long review title, I would title this "A must-have for all Catholics but particularly Catholic homeschoolers, parents, converts, and catechists....and many non-Catholic Christians would probably like it too." but I had to narrow it down. This book is GREAT!! And as soon as I finish typing this I am going to buy three more copies so that each of my children will be able to have their own copy. The devotion of the Stations of the Cross is introduced with a beautifully illustrated and brief introduction of The Last Supper; then, each station is laid out on two facing pages with scripture, prayers, and a brief introduction to a Saint who exemplified the virtues associated with that station. (The Resurrection is included but not numbered as a station.) This is a devotional tool that can be used by everyone from preschoolers (lovely watercolor illustrations), converts (the text of the prayers is written out so that this devotion is accessible to those who have not yet memorized or are unable to memorize these Catholic prayers), to long time Catholics who would just like a fresh look at an ancient devotional practice. The book includes excellent catechist resources at the back including unit study ideas, discussion questions, and a chart which lists each station and the corresponding scripture, saint with birth/death dates and feast day, and virtues associated with that particular station. This book is laid out quite similarly to Christine Haapala's other book "Speak Lord, I'm Listening" which is an excellent tool for teaching the rosary that I also highly recommend. |
