3.0 out of 5 stars A Mish Mash of tales from Old men, May 11, 2006
This review is from: Follow the Signs : A Treasure-Hunter's Handbook (Paperback)
This book is something of a memoir of an old treasure hunter. While the title says treasure, the actual experience of the author is more in bottle hunting, indian relics and arrowheads. Clearly, he also has experience in prospecting too. A large grain of salt is needed for some of his tales, and most of his conclusions. He's based out of Arkansas so has much material to draw upon from there, along with lots of experience in OK, where he lived too. He makes reference to what is now consider KGC (Knights of the Golden Circle) signs but calls them Spanish sign markers. THere is lots of talk of finding of buried caches but few pictures, partly, I think due to his age and the lack of camera equipment back then.
A chapter in the book goes into depth and detail of spanish/other signs. Best if you take it with a grain of salt. Several chapters on how to be a better hunter, these are worthwhile tips. Inadvertenly, he shows you were to find your starting leads.
In conclusion, this is a neccessary book for a serious Treasure hunter. It has excellenct advice, good discussions on how one would be the treasure hider, and it will give you great pointers on where you are weak in your research. AS for the treasure finding stories, well... bring your saltshaker.

I really like that for a newbie like me I can read and understand
everything. No technical information I had to study. Biggest was
how these men got started with the hunting which is where I am so
gives me clues on how to go and what to look forin my hunting. Jakjaneus
