Conservationist Oddie is known in Britain for his role in a long-running TV comedy series. In this book he takes the reader on a bird-watching tour to such diverse places as Morocco, the Isles of Scilly, India, Ireland, the Shetland Islands, and Papua New Guinea. Oddie calls the book a collection of "traveler's tales" of the pursuit of birds. He recounts the many species of birds he saw, as well as some of the people doing the watching. Oddie relates some bizarre incidents along the way in a humorous vein; consequently the book will be enjoyed more by armchair travelers looking for laughs than by serious birders.
