I highly recommend this book and Mr

I watched Rob Knight's talk on TED.com and was fascinated. This was a quick read and added well to what he spoke of in his speech. It's largely about the microbes that inhabit your gut, the things that affect that (good and bad), and what the Human Microbe Project is learning with their research. I highly recommend this book and Mr. Knight's speech. It's all new and previously unknown so fun to learn about. I trust what this book has to say more than others because he doesn't add unknown things and readily admits what scientists have yet to figure out. I'm actually feeling annoyed that the research isn't as far along as what I want to know, kinda like an author not having written the next book in a series.

short, easy read, good introduction to the topic

an easy good and entertaining and fairly short read if you're starting out educating yourself on the importance of gut issues. And it is a hugely important topic, that hasn't been publicly explored enough. looks like it's on it's way, though. This one is a Ted talk book, a great introduction.
I assume more good books are going to come up, this one is safe for newbies. so, if you want to slip an easy one under your husbands pillow to learn to understand what all the food he's putting into his system does to him, this is a good one.
for yourself get Giulia Enders book: Gut: The Inside Story of Our Body's Most Underrated Organ, coming out May 20th this year with Amazon. it's hilarious, totally fascinating, you won't put it down and probably be inspired to help out your gut.

This is a great introduction to a better realization of what health is and how it is maintained. Microbes could completely make over how the medical community approaches the individual person.
