5.0 out of 5 stars To Die For
Mario Frangoulis, the singing dreamboat, has done it again...and then some. I did not think it was possible to top his last CD "Sometimes I Dream", but he has.

Not to be negative or disparaging, but Mario leaves Josh Groban and even Joshua Payne far behind in the dust. He brings an utterly romantic, physical, European sensiblity to the American music scene...

3.0 out of 5 stars The CD is not as good as the "Sometimes I dream"
The song selection is very weeek. There is only one great song which is #3 on the CD, that I played over and over again. I hope that the next one will be as good as the first. I would recommend to buy if you are Mario's fan.
Cheers...

He brings an utterly romantic, physical, European sensiblity to the American music scene that simply did not exist in mainstream pop until now. And, ah, to gaze at those photos of him while you listen!!!

For a taste, try Amazon's sample of "Come What May" from "Moulin Rouge". You will truly experience the song like you've never heard it before. And your heart feels like it's bursting open with passion, yes? Like you're standing on a rooftop, singing to the world, yes? That's just a snippet of what "Follow Your Heart" is like. So what are you waiting for??? Buy! Buy!!!

I really enjoyed his first CD, but this new CD blows it away. What a tremendous voice! You can tell he truly believes in these songs, and most of them are achingly beautiful. I especially enjoyed Here's to the Heroes. If it doesn't move you to tears and give you goosebumps, I'll be very surprised.

5.0 out of 5 stars TRUE SPLENDOR, January 25, 2006
By
This review is from: Follow Your Heart (Audio CD)
I was introduced to Mario via a snippet of his PBS special while flipping channels. He was singing "Nights In White Satin" with one of his idols from the Moody Blues. A fellow fan of Linda Eder and Nana Mouskouri also recommended his previous album, however, I sampled it only and didn't act. Knowing this new album was to be released, I gave it a try with the samples provided online and at B&N Store. Totally captured! I purchased the album yesterday and can only give it raves all around. I hope this album really makes Mario here in the US, as I know his worldwide acclaim is phenomenal.

"Here's To The Heroes" is a stellar piece, and very pertinent now with our troops still doing their work in Iraq. The melody is based on an orchestral piece either from a movie or classical composition. I just can put my finger on it, but oh so wonderful with the lyrics.

As I mentioned Nana Mouskouri above, and both Mario and Nana hailing from Greece, his version of Another World (Va' Pensiero) is a variation with different lyrics (that I am aware of) from Nana's 80s worldwide hit "Song For Liberty" (Je Chante Avec Toi Liberte, Libertad, Liberdade, etc - titles in various languages). This new version, along with Nana's, gives this operatic gem two definitive versions in the popular market.

I am now psyched enough to get Mario's first US CD album and try to find other international recordings done thus far. He is amazing, and I am hoping to see him in concert some day.

I love both albums. Don't let the nonsense on this board discourage you from supporting this incredible artist. Buy this album without hesitation and enjoy it.

I am blown away by the versatility and range of this performer. Moreover, I challenge anyone to identify a talent of similar age who has ventured to sing in as many languages/dialects flawlessly.

Bravo on another great performance.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent show from a powerful tenor..., August 5, 2005
This review is from: Follow Your Heart (Audio CD)
While many argue that Mario Frangoulis' sophomore FOLLOW YOUR HEART is not as strong as his first album, SOMETIMES I DREAM, much of that stems from the difference in song selection between the two.

It is undeniable that Frangoulis is extremely talented -- his tenor voice is smooth, powerful, refreshing, and brilliant. Despite the sometimes poor choice of tracks on this album, Frangoulis still deserves full credit, in my opinion, for his shining renditions of several of the best tracks on this disc, including "Follow Your Heart," "Dance," "Here's to the Heroes," "Bridge of Dreams," and "Come What May." Each of these tracks showcases Frangoulis' vocal range and power.

With that said, some of the tracks on this disc fall short of what one might expect from such a strong talent. In particular, "Enas Hartinos Ilios," "Cu'mme," and "Benedictus" seem less interesting and moving when compared to the better tracks on the disc.

All-in-all, however, Frangoulis' performance is very strong, emotional, and honed. He deserves a huge amount of credit, I think, for the maturity and richness his voice holds, even if a handful of the songs here seem out-of-place or oddly unimpressive when compared with his other work.

My suggestion: start by listening to "Come What May" and "Dance," then judge for yourself if his powerful, mellifluous sound is something that you find strangely difficult to resist.

Mario Frangoulis has a voice that is warm and powerful, and brings opera into the 21st century. But when I saw the DVD of his "Sometimes I Dream", I saw real passion and dedication to music. Sony needs to PROMOTE PROMOTE PROMOTE this great talent. I hope to hear and see much more wonderful work from Mario! How about a Christmas CD? Lynn

I have recently discovered Mario's music, and I love it! I am a huge fan of Josh Groban also, and discovered Mario through a recommendation from another Josh fan. There is a great deal of wonderful music out there, and Mario is definitely part of that scene!

Mario's first CD "Sometimes I Dream" was a great introduction to a great singer and the marvelous culture from which he comes. "Follow My Heart" sounds more personal, like this is Mario telling us about himself. It has a much more intimate feel than SID, like he is inviting you to be his friend. I find both to be exceptional, each in its own way. I highly recommend both of Mario's CDs, and the Sometimes I Dream DVD as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Follow Mario....and buy his cd!, March 5, 2005

I bought Mario Frangoulis' last cd on a fluke. I was just in a music store, had read a good review of his cd, didn't see anything else I wanted and bought his cd. I became an instant fan and now, with "Follow Your Heart", I see that Mario is not a one hit wonder. My favorite songs are "Come What May", "Bridge of Dreams", "Hay Mas" a duet with Alejandro Fernandez, "Cu'mme" with singer Melody, "Another World", "Dance" and "Enas Hartinos Ilios, which is my favorite track on the cd. I'd love to hear an entire cd by Frangoulis of Greek songs. I also love the fact that he gives you songs in Italian, Greek, Spanish and English...but then what would you expect from a man with such a culturally diverse background.

No matter what language he sings in, Mario Frangoulis is a voice that deserves a huge audience. Like Josh Groban and Michael Buble, Frangoulis is a breath of fresh air from the current music being played on the air waves and MTV. I highly recommend this cd. You will not be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, November 11, 2004
This review is from: Follow Your Heart (Audio CD)
I accidently listened to Mario first album (Sometimes I dream) a few months ago, instantly I fell in love with his emotional, beautiful voice and his music.
"Follow your heart" is a second great album in the row. I love every single song in this albums. Well done, Mario. Cant wait to see you live in concert.

Follow your heart. Follow Mario, you would never regret.

Mario Frangoulis new CD is the best of any record I've heard this year. His voice is a thrilling tenor that goes straight to
my heart. It reflects his most profound feelings about life, love
friendship, family and patriotism. The first songHere's to the Heroes will make you hold your breath. It is dedicated to all of
the men and women who fight for peace.Adagio- brings out his operatic qualities.Follow your heart is a love song that is soothing and his voice changes to a mellow tone.Hay Mas is a lively Spanish duet with the celebrated voice of Aleyandro Fernandez.Their voices together are a blend of beauty.Bridge of
Dreams-his voice turns husky and has a story to tell of young love.Un'Anima Sola(Ave Maria)-Sensational version of this everlasting beautiful song.Thrilling.His Italian is impeccable
as is his Spanish,English and of course Greek.Va Pensiero(Another World) Another English and Italian song that delivers
his sensational voice.Benedictus(Cantico Alla Musica) is another
fabulous sonf that brings out the ranges of his voice. His breath control is amazing.AH,a fantastic Greek song (the only one) is wonderful and only Mario can sing a Greek song that I can visualise and practically understand. The name is Enas Hartinos Ilios(Paper Sun) Cu'Mme another duet with a young Spanish star named melody.Fabulous. Dance is a wonderful romantic song that you would love to dance to,of course with Mario or your closest.Charming and the words are so romantic.
Come What May-this is a show stopper.A love song with an ending
that makes you want to stand and shout BRAVO.His voice just surrounds you with ranges of unbelievable heights.
I cherish this CD for many reasons and you will too.His talent is valued in Greece and now in the US.Lovers young and old will thrilled with record.
