With Followin' A Feelin', Sherrie Austin continues to prove that she is one of the most underrated artists in all of country music. This album has something for everybody. From catchy new country songs like the title track and In The Meantime to traditional sounding pure country songs like Goin', Goin', Gone and the beautiful remake of Dolly Parton's classic, Jolene, Sherrie wonderfully displays her versatility. While other "country" artists such as Faith Hill and Shania Twain continue to drift away from their roots, Sherrie isn't afraid to be country. On this album, Sherrie creates a sound that should appeal to both modern and traditional country fans. Although Sherrie has some non-country influences it appears that she has no desire to be a pop artist, and that is very refreshing these days. Besides having the most beautiful voice I've ever heard, Sherrie is also an amazing songwriter, penning 9 of the album's 10 songs. Although it is very difficult to choose favorites on such a consistently brilliant collection of tracks, I think In the Meantime and the amazing ballad Love Melts Even the Coldest Hearts are worth the price of the cd alone. There isn't one weak track on this cd and any country fan's collection is incomplete without Followin' A Feelin'. I also highly recommend Sherrie's other 2 albums, Words and Love in the Real World.

This CD is simply put, wonderful. From the classic Dolly Parton "Jolene." TO may very favorite, "Somethin' Missin' in the Kissin'" This CD has a bit of it all, and it's all unique, wonderful and totally Sherrie. I saw Sherrie at a local fair over the summer, her show is GREAT! The live version of "Missin' in the Kissin'" is fantastic. Sherrie put on a great show and she's really very funny. I think if you buy this CD you won't be dissapointed, in fact I'm sure it will soon become one of you favorites!

Sherrie Austin is without question the BEST female singer in country music today. And once again, she proves it. There are a number of 10/10 on this CD: The best is "My Brilliant Mistake", but "Back Where I Belong", The title track, and "In The Meantime" are also flawless songs. "Jolene" is a song I always have detested, it did not matter if it was Dolly Parton, Martina McBride, or the worst of all: Olivia Newton-John, I dislike the lyrics. Sherrie, managed to get me to at least tolerate the song. This is a must have CD, simply put the best CD of the millineum.

It is such a mistake of country radio stations to not play Sherrie Austin. She has such wonderful songs! She has the look, the voice and all of the talent country music listeners want. Why do you hide her on the shelf? Mistake, big mistake.

Tick tick boom! This album hit me like a thud to your chest, know what I'm sayin? Ever song Makes you back up smack up Straight up. Especialy number 5. Whoopdy whoop.

I have loved Sherrie since her first single "Lucky In Love", and I have all of her CDs, but this one is my favorite. The best song on here is "Back Where I Belong". I also love "Goin Goin Gone", "Somethin Missin In The Kissin", the title track, "Time Love & Money", and her cover of "Jolene" (someone else mentioned how they always detested that song and I have no idea why! It's a great tune!). The rest of the songs I can kind of take or leave, but these that I mentioned are so good that you have to buy this cd just for those. And while you're at it, you may as well buy her Love In The Real World cd, if just for the title track and my fave song of hers, "All The Love A Heart Can Hold". Sherrie is so underrated and definitely should be as big as any of the other female greats.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this cd. This is one of those rare cds that I actually listen to from beginning to end. I don't have favorites on the cd. They're all good. If I had to choose only a few to highlight from the cd, I would say that "Followin' a feelin'", "Jolene", & "In our own sweet time" are the three best. She may be petite, but no one can deny that she's got one powerful voice, especially after you listen to "Jolene". I HIGHLY recommend this cd as well as "Love in the Real World"

Sherrie once again proves that she may be the only country artist to have a handle on good authentic modern country music that isn't boring!
This CD is easy to listen to from beginning to end.At first listen it sounds like an old favorite which is great.
Song highlights include the emotional Love Melts Even The Coldest Hearts,the very witty Somethin Missin In The Kissin and My Brilliant Mistake which is a tune you'll play over and over.

Followin' A Feelin' continues Sherrie Austin's special brand of country/light-rock fusion, squeezed into ambrosia and and coating one's throat, leaving one refreshed. I've gone for a second cup of Sherrie's ambrosia feeling that way.

The title track shows she hasn't lost her touch in singing a catchy tune. That is followed by her cover of Dolly Parton's "Jolene." I haven't heard the original so I can't compare the two, but she sings it with her usual aplomb.

The forlorn "Goin', Goin', Gone," with its fiddle, leans towards but never crosses the border to a traditional country sound. Another ballad along the same vein is the singleworthy "Love Melts Even The Coldest Hearts." The song title is self-explanatory.

In the jazzy "Somethin' Missin' In The Kissin'" there are two motifs in play here: the "no X in the Y" motif as well as the apostrophe game. I mean look at the title--somethin', missin', kissin', wooin'... And as for the other, "oohin' in the wooin'" is my favorite. Not to mention, "no cherry in the pie," or "no butter on the biscuit." Huh, I thought the cherry in the pie was Sherrie. However, on "no chicken in the oven" and "no beef in the stew"--that's actually good--come on, girl, vegetarianism is cool."

One song of romantic dreams being shot down by the arrows of reality. One is "In The Meantime," of a ballerina-wannabe and and aspiring major league star. What can intercept those dreams and crumple them in life's wastebasket? I'll let the chorus answer: "Make the coffee, read the paper/Late for work, dreams will wait 'til later/Get the bills paid, buy the groceries/Take time to stop and smell the roses" To quote the title of a movie, reality bites!

"In Our Own Sweet Time" has got a rollicking lead guitar and a chorus sung in Sherrie's higher sweeter register. It puts anything by Sheryl Crow to shame. Equally catchy and upbeat is "Back Where I Belong," which could also have fit on Love In The Real World.

"Time, Love & Money" shows the down side of living a materialistic, greedy-oriented life. There's one line in there that connected with me: "On Sunday we kneel down and pray/Oh please forgive our selfish ways/Come Monday we're back in the race." That's the reason I stopped believing in God, back in 1983. What was the point in people being neighbourly one day of the week and cheating and backstabbing their fellow people the other six days of the week? As for the rest of the song, there's nothing wrong with wanting more time and love, especially when one uses those two for a dear one, but when it comes to more money, that's where the phrase, "that depends" comes in. For example, having more money and still wanting more for personal greed--that's totally wacko, jacko.

Oh, by the way, it took me a while, but anyone who's confused to what BGV's are after each song credit, it means background vocals.

The songs are less abstract as they were in Love In The Real World, but her pleasant honeyed voice is what makes this album more than just a good followup. Keep on singin', Sherrie, I'll keep buyin'.

2001 was a rather uneven and unpredictable year for country music, and one of the finest of last year has been miserably ignored to the favoured headliners like Dolly Parton (whom I have absolutely nothing against) or Garth Brooks. Meanwhile, this incredibly talented young Aussie is virtually unheard of.

From the start, the album sounds traditional with the title track "Followin' A Feelin'," which is one of the better tracks. From there, "Jolene," (5/5) with it's rocky sound and addictive lyrics and tune sweeps the listener away. The track after that is sweet and slow, but nothing special. (3/5) My second favorite of the album, "Something Missin' in the Kissin'" is absolutely brilliant, both gorgeously written and sung with emotion and spunk. 5/5

"In the Meantime" is the real gem of the album. It shows that a person's dreams and what really happens are quite different, but not always bad. (Make the coffee /read the paper/ late for work/ dream'll wait 'til later/ no time to stop and smell the roses) It's absolutely great! 5/5

"In Our Own Sweet Time" is another of those great rock-edged country songs. Don't plan on a whiny banjo- this is beautiful Sheryl Crow-esque sounding country music. 4/5

"Love Melts Even the Coldest Hearts" is notably poetic, but a little slow for my tastes. 3/5

"Back Where I Belong" is written to be spunky and sentimental- and Sherrié does a darn good job with it! The vocals are strong and the writing is better. 4/5

"My Brilliant Mistake" and "Time, Love, Money" are both great songs that would be easy to relate to, but neither is a great way to end the album.

All in all, it's a must-have.. one of my favorite country CDs!
