Wonderfully interesting,
By Kurt A. Johnson (North-Central Illinois, USA) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (TOP 100 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Following Columbus (Hardcover)
In 1962, a crew of nine intrepid men set sail from Spain in a replica of Christopher Columbus's smallest ship, the caravel Santa Clara, known affectionately as the Niña. Expecting to recreate Columbus's easy trip from the Canary Islands to the far side of the Atlantic, the nine set out on their voyage. This is their story, a story of rancid food, spoiled water, storms, sharks, and ferociously boring (and frustrating) doldrums.I was quite delighted to find this book. In fact, I once visited this Niña II, and actually met the author. The book is wonderfully interesting. I must admit that they were quite heroic to have put up with everything that they did. Overall, I found this to be an interesting book. If you like stories of aquatic adventure, then this is the book for you!
