5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read for Christians
I can't imagine any Christian reading this book and not feeling challenged. Campolo does a great job of pointing out the many things that Christians do that almost certainly embarrass God, but he doesn't stop there. Along with showing some ways Christians probably shouldn't act, he gives some very practical guidelines for how we should act. It hits a little close...

3.0 out of 5 stars Tony
This guy seems to have implied that he authored the Shel Silverstein poem "Listen to the Musn'ts" in one of his lectures to a youth event. That's the way it seemed to me.

Nontheless he stands out as a moderate in a sea of right-wing fundamentalists. I credit him with that much.

"We've met the enemy and they are partly right" was a great book.

It hits a little close to home sometimes, but who said we're supposed to be comfortable all the time?

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a man of God writing about practical things., July 28, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Following Jesus Without Embarrassing God (Paperback)
If you are tired of people promising to deliver you from all of your worries, then Mr. Campolo is the man for you. His work is probably the most practical and realistic of any theologian to date. He has no problem about telling it like it is and hitting the issues that scare most people (like Homosexuality, politics, etc.) It helped me to see that how I am as a christian isn't wrong, it is just who i am. And it told me how all of us as believers are different.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful Guide for Applying Christianity to our Daily Lives, April 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Following Jesus Without Embarrassing God (Paperback)
This is an easy to read and understand book with excellent examples. Campolo is a great storyteller. While he is sure to step on a few toes (including mine!), he does so in a kind, loving and logical manner. One thing I really appreciated was his biblical references -- this isn't just a book of unsubstantiated opinions.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting thoughts on accepted behaviors, December 11, 2002
This review is from: Following Jesus Without Embarrassing God (Paperback)
Mr. Campolo did a decent job with this book. It is a generally thought-provoking and insightful look into accepted Christian behaviors and attitudes. Perfect for book studies, the chapters are easy to discuss out of sequence and are great for one-hour sessions!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Insight, January 9, 2007
This review is from: Following Jesus Without Embarrassing God (Paperback)
For all those folks who are tried of the garbage that relgious dogma spouts, Campolo gives a fresh look at subjects that have deep meaning for the individual and give practical application for the life of the individual and the church. It is a great look at cultural Christianity and its flaws.
