This review is from: Following the Legends - A GPS Guide to Utah's Lost Mines and Hidden Treasures (Paperback)
A well-written book about some of the legends and tales of Utah, it includes GPS coordinates to some of the places, too. However, some of the information is inaccurate and GPS coordinates are not included for every location that is discussed. It also concentrates heavily on the Uintahs, ignoring most of the rest of the state.

Dale really knows his treasure and doesn't hesitate telling others how to find it and what to expect. He teaches readers that the real treasure is in the history of the relics and their locations and in the adventure of the hunt. He's a strong proponent for leaving things the way you found them.Written from a story-tellers point of view everything is well documented and researched with GPS co-ordinates that lead you as close as possible to the locations described in the book. If this book doesn't have you out looking for treasure all over the great state of Utah, then nothing will!

The book is great is you only plan to visit the ghost/mining towns near Salt lake City.Forget the rest of Utah. The book hardly covers anything other than SLC interests. Utah has more old mining and ghost towns than any other state and this book will not help locate them. |
