5.0 out of 5 stars I'm shocked
that this is the author's first novel! While this is definitely a fun read, she also has a way with language that made me think she had a number of books under her belt.

I can imagine this being a favorite with the chick lit crowd, though I liked it more as a mystery novel. So I guess I'd say that unless your reading is confined to encyclopedias and...

I felt like a ping pong ball in this book. It was bouncing around everywhere. I couldn't connect with the heroine Faith. She seemed, well to put it nicely..... a bit crazy. I was interested in Ethan's character until his crazy girlfriend entered the picture. Then you have the Faith's sister involved with the needy phone sex operator which was weird. Add in a stalker and...

5.0 out of 5 stars Engaging from the start, October 7, 2006

Even though I don't generally read this genre, Osterkamp's book kept me turning the pages. From the opening where we learn Faith is not only psychic, but has been kidnapped, this story forced me to read on.

The humor Faith uses to look at her life makes this story endearing and believable. I was with her from the time her best friend fessed up to cheating with Faith's boyfriend all the way through her "call girl" room mate and mechanic crush. Funny and engaging. I'll definitely buy the author's next book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A super-fun read!, May 18, 2006
This review is from: Following My Toes (Paperback)
From the beginning I was hooked! This book is fast-paced, and unlike some of the chick lit I've read, it has some depth as well. I recommend it to anyone who likes comic-romance that's well written and smart.

4.0 out of 5 stars Following My Toes, May 26, 2011
This review is from: Following My Toes (Paperback)
When Faith is dumped by her boyfriend of two years for her best friend; she decides that it is time for a new start. She moves from the small town of Duluth to Minneapolis, where her friend Carolyn lives. She soon finds herself dealing with a crazy stalker, a phone-sex operator roommate and a demented coffee shop customer. Overall, I enjoyed this book. The characters were interesting and the plot was fun and entertaining. Although not quite as good as her other book, this one is definitely worth a read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Psychic itching, May 17, 2011
This review is from: Following My Toes (Paperback)
Laurel Osterkamp is a captivating author. She digs deep and nails it. The self-doubt and self-analysis of the main character made my head spin. All this agony eventually led to self-discovery and forgiveness. The people closest to you can and do hurt you the deepest. A little bit of psychic itching always helps.

4.0 out of 5 stars A light-hearted and well done book, August 7, 2006

This review is from: Following My Toes (Paperback)
Faith is psychic, but she's not surprised that most people don't believe her. After all, her powers didn't let her know about bruising her tailbone, being abducted, or, well, any of the things that plague her life after she moves to Minneapolis.

Faith needs a fresh start after her boyfriend dumps her for her best friend, so she follows the advice of her friend Carolyn and moves to Minneapolis. Only things don't work out quite as planned. Carolyn is having issues with her own boyfriend, jobs are difficult to find, and when Faith finds an apartment, it turns out her roommate is a phone sex operator. And then there are the men who come into her life...

There's the sexy mechanic, the friendly neighbor, and the cute coffee-shop patron. At first they all seem wonderful, but they all have issues of their own, and one of them is stalking Faith. She has to try to figure out who she can trust before she can really find a new start.

Following My Toes is a funny, believable story about learning to live and love and let go. Faith's problems are ones that the reader can relate to, things that happen to everyone at some point in their life, and that makes her a character that's very easy to connect to. The first-person narrative really drew me into the story, and made me feel as though Faith were talking to me.

I really enjoyed reading Following My Toes. It is well done and light-hearted without being overly humorous or fake. I look forward to seeing more from this author.

Armchair Interviews says: It is a delightful, quick read,

4.0 out of 5 stars Will keep you wanting more!, July 12, 2011
This review is from: Following My Toes (Kindle Edition)

When Faith's boyfriend leaves her for her best friend, she decides she needs to take drastic action with her life. So she moves to a new city and starts a new job that ends in a journey of self-discovery.

Following my Toes has got a mixture of everything in it - women's fiction, mystery, romance, but above all it's about learning to forgive and get on with our lives following a break-up.

An all-round great read that will keep you wanting more!
