Book Description

June 9, 1990
'Sara! You must come out! You're wanted downstairs right away,' Lucie hissed through the keyhole on the locked bedroom door. 'Stepmama is furious and Father has sent word that he's coming home early from the Exchange. She says he's in a rage over what you've done!' 'I haven't done anything! It's not my fault if those two hotheads decide to fight a duel!' came her sister's indignant voice from the other side of the door. 'Oh, Sara, please!' Lucie pleaded. 'Father will be here any minute. You must do as you're told!' She shook her head and sighed ruefully, 'You're stubborn, Sara.' 'No,' denied Sara. 'I am strong.' Thus begins the bittersweet story of beautiful Sara Leighton, the headstrong heroine of Folly's Bride, the fourth in the Brides of Montclair series. As with her predecessors, happiness does not come painlessly to this newest bride of Montclair. Her unusual beauty and her independent spirit places her on a collision course with romance, frustration, disappointment, and finally, true love.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pales in comparison, September 1, 2010

This review is from: Folly's Bride (Brides of Montclair, Book 4) (Paperback)
I'd read and loved the previous book in this series directly before reading this one, and unfortunately this one suffered from the comparison. To be fair, I'm sure the quality of the story and the writing were at the same level as the other book, but I strongly disliked the main character (I don't really even want to call her a "heroine"). She wasn't a good person, which made it difficult to want her to find happiness, which is the point of reading a romantic novel, after all.

2.0 out of 5 stars Folly's Bride, July 10, 2005
This review is from: Folly's Bride (Brides of Montclair, Book 4) (Paperback)
The book seemed rather sluggish after the start. I could not identify with Sara Leighton. She seems very fickle and ungrateful. She foreshadows the bittersweet time and a life of simplicity and the dawn of a new era.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun books, March 6, 2005
This review is from: Folly's Bride (Brides of Montclair, Book 4) (Paperback)
I love the Jane Peart books and the strong women portayed in the books, but do have trouble following who is who. How can Clayborn be Graham's nephew when Graham doesn't have any brothers or sisters?
