Letters Tied with Ribbons,
This review is from: Fondest Love-Yours, Ian (Kindle Edition)
This book will long remain a favorite for those who enjoy romance and history. Given that WWII is still fresh in the minds of many readers, they will identify with those difficult days during the 1940s, when two young people met, fell in love, and then tried to maintain their relationship through a series of letters. This slim book is one that will haunt your memories of a time gone by and make you wonder what secret letters, messages, and mementos lie stored in your parents' steamer truck, diaries, or chest of drawers. Interspersed with the letters Ian writes to his Hoosier sweetheart, Louise Hamm, the author and recipient of those letters, inserts her comments about how she reacted to his letters and to news from the war front. Here's a book that will make you think of the movie "Casablanca" and the song "Stardust." The author beautifully captures the bitter-sweet longing, fear, and despair of two lovers separated by fate and time.
