I have followed this series from book one, have loved each book and anxiously awaited publication of the next; however, this is the best yet. Loved Ollie from the very first book and as the series has developed I have become more and more enthralled with each of the main characters. Although the plot in this one differs from prior books it certainly does keep Ollie closely involved with her White House duties. Julie`s mystery plot made it extremely hard to put the book down. I love how the relationship with Gav is developing. Sitting here twiddling my thumbs waiting for the next book!! And for anyone who has not yet read any of the series, start with book one and work your way to this one - it will mean so much more to you.

Each entry in Julie Hyzy's White House Chef series is better than the one before. We receive new insights into characters we already know and also learn intimate details about life inside the bubble of the White House, both for the First Family and for the enormous staff it takes to make everything run smoothly.

This time Olivia Paras' mystery was personal. Why was her father allowed to be buried at Arlington when he had received a dishonorable discharge from the army? White House social events take a back seat in this mystery, but Ollie builds upon her relationship with First Son, Josh, and the First Lady. It was so nice to see that Ollie continued to be a strong, independent woman while having a man who loved and supported her, instead of telling her she was a nuisance. It was inevitable that I would finish this book quickly as the story was so interesting, but now I have to wait for Ms. Hyzy to concoct another tasteful adventure to enjoy.

Although the mystery in this book stands alone, I think the reader would get more enjoyment from it if she read each of the White House Chef books in order and was able to fully embrace the character development from "State of the Onion" on.

I really enjoyed this newest book in the White House Chef series. This one is a little different, as Ollie is looking into the death of her father 25 years earlier. I am a fan of what I recently found out are called 'cozy mysteries' and this fits the mold. Farily PG, murder mystery style mostly with female heroines. It is an easy read and not the kind of book that you will lose sleep over. So, for this mom, it is perfect bedtime reading.

No White House threat here, but a good story that fills in a lot of background to Ollie's life. Also relationships are moving forward and I want to read the next installment! I didn't think the solution to the mystery was obvious as sometimes happens with these cozy mysteries. I also like the way Ollie is learning to deal with other employees in the White House and think that they will join forces in future stories.

I have read each of the WH chef books and have enjoyed each one. I thought this one was very good. While it did have less to do with the actual White House Day to day activities, I really thought her character developement was strong. I like where she is taking Olivia and other main characters. I am anxious to see what the author comes up with next in this series.

like all the white house trivia. Olivia was a bit over the top in carelessness in this tale but overall I love the series

This is by far the best book yet in this series.
I thoroughly enjoyed the pace of this one.The continuing characters did not disappoint. They've become friends - well most of them ;)
The mystery was well crafted and had me in the dark until the end.
I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Fonduing Fathers is the sixth book in the White House Chef Mystery series. I have followed this series from the start. I felt the 5th book Affairs Of Steak spent less time in the White House than the previous books. This book spends even less time in the White House as Ollie is on a personal mission. Her mother decided that the time was right to tell Ollie that her father had received an dishonorable discharge from the military yet he was buried in Arlington. It didn't add up. Her mother also discloses that he was murdered and it was later discovered he was selling company secrets. The murder was never solved. Ollie sets out to find out what the truth is and it means finding contacts from 25 years ago. There is cloak and dagger involved. Ollie keeps coming to dead ends where no one wants to talk to her about her father. She is told many times to not pursue her inquiries. Even though there was less White House background, the personality of Ollie remained the same as in the other books. She has tenacity and is determined to find out the answers to her questions.

I liked the direction that the character of Peter Sargeant is going. Peter should be very interesting in upcoming books. The book read very fast so it held my interest. It was a very good read and I look forward to the next book.
