An excellent bluetooth car kit., September 14, 2007
This review is from: Fonexion FX950 Portable Bluetooth Hands Free Speak (Office Product)
The Fonexion FX950 is a very well made device which is indispensible and safe if you use your cell phone a lot while driving. I got this to replace my Jabra bluetooth ear piece, which was erratic in its voice quality, specially if the windows were open or the airconditioner was on.
The FX950 is very easy to pair with your phone. Transfer of the phone book is straight forward, but it is very difficult to locate a name/number as there is no option but to scroll from A to Z. I use my phone to place the call from speed dial.
I found the visor attachment the better way to position it(rather than the vent mount), but the down side is you cannot see the LCD readout before answering the call. And then I discovered another option which is not documented in the manual ...
My Toyota 4Runner SUV has a prewired MP3 player jack(in the arm rest console) which plays through the aux. button on the car stereo. I hard-wire conneted the FX950 via the ear phone jack to my MP3 input and the sound quality is fantastic -- clear crisp and free of any distortion. So, now I place the FX950 on my armrest tray and calls coming through are as clear as the person is in the car ! When the FX rings I just punch the Aux. button the car stereo. Try this -- it even beats a much more expensive built in system I have in my Mercedez Benz.
The battrey life is phenominal -- I use it for about 2 hours a day and need to recharge the unit once in 3 weeks. Switch the power off when not in use and take it out of the car when in the hot sun and this gadget works like a charm.
The highest recommendation without any hesitation. There is no need to buy a more expensive unit which needs professional installation. This is the way to go.

Great product, ok sound, June 11, 2007
This review is from: Fonexion FX950 Portable Bluetooth Hands Free Speak (Office Product)
This product works very well. It was easy to pair it with a couple of different bluetooth phones. When calls come in, just press a button and it picks up the call.
When I am near the car, it automatically connects to my phone, and also has a call transfer button to allow conversations to continue away from the car.
Unlike the Motorola ones that I looked at, this one barely flashes a blue LED every now and then to let you know that it's in standby. It's not at all a distraction like some have said about their Motorola sets.
It's very portable, and easily goes from car to car. When clipped to the visor, it resembles a garage door opener, or you can place it on the other side of the visor to keep it out of sight.
Trying to use the voice activated dialing feature is mostly a miss, but I blame the Windows Mobile software on my phone. I'm sure if you could record voice tags on your phone, it would work just fine.
I've had it for 2 weeks now, and haven't needed to charge it, but your mileage may vary...
The only thing that keeps this from 5 stars is the sound quality is a little tinny, but what do you expect for something so small? I tried using the headset out jack to connect to my car stereo. The sound quality is even worse, especially when streaming music through. You can hear compression artifacts. But that's a minor issue for something that's meant to be a handsfree device for the car.
In all, it's a great product that doesn't make you look like a cyborg, walking around with one of those things hanging off your ear.

Quit working after 15 minutes, July 2, 2008
This review is from: Fonexion FX950 Portable Bluetooth Hands Free Speak (Office Product)
I received this item as a gift. After trying it out for about 15 minutes, it locked up and hasn't worked since. I contacted the company, but they said since it was not purchased directly from them, they would not honor the warranty. For the few minutes it did work, it did not sound very good at all. The music streaming is a good idea, but it sounded terrible, like I was listening to an old am radio. I'm sure glad I didn't pay for this.
