5.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful!
This book suggests how to successfully substitute products according to your specific allergies. The recipes in the book are easy and delicious, but the information in the book on what to substitute when really opens the doors to making your old favorite recipes allergy free. This book really covered it all for me. I highly recommend it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Good information but unreliable recipes
While the book has a lot of interesting information, not all the recipes work well. The buckwheat pancakes are fabulous, but the Gluten Free White bread seems to have some sort of error in the amount of liquid (it calls for 1 1/8 cup but needs a lot more liquid than that).

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic help in and out of the kitchen, February 22, 2008
This review is from: Food Allergy Cookbook (Hardcover)
Recipes, like any good book or cd, should be passed on to friends. Well, every dish I've made so far from this book I have had to share! The recipes are fantastic (the banana honey cake is ridiculously good) and very simple to follow according to the specific allergy. The book begins with helpful advice on the basic lifestyle changes needed to cope with food allergies -from cooking at home, to dining out, traveling and visiting friends. Substitute ingredients are clearly explained and I have learned a great deal in such a short time. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone with any interest in cooking.

I bought this book as a gift for my sister who's child has MAJOR allergies and she seems to just love it- I was a little disappointed with what it said for substitutions though- it was all stuff she already knew! But she still likes it!

I had good hopes for this book, it was the first allergy cook book that I've bought. None of the recipes I've tried have worked too well. And of course there are very expensive ingredients. It does have a handy section of substitutions and flour blends, lots of good information too. But overall I haven't used this book much.
